Here are the times and the consequences...that we know of...
1. Threatened to quit when First Time was going to be released as a single - Consequence: Styx loses at least one top 10 single and maybe two (Boat never gets released in the States)
2. Threatened to quit if another concept album was going to be pursued after Paradise Theater - Consequence: Dennis wins out and the band convinces Tommy to do the album
3. Threatened to quit if Haven't We Been Here Before was going to be released as a single - Consequence: High Time released instead - doesn't even hit top 40 - expensive video shelved - another top 10 single gone - Kilroy momentum stopped - 500,000 albums not sold -
4. Threatened to quit if the band didn't release Cold War (Live!) as a single - Consequence: Releases High Time - poor results - Kilroy loses momentum
5. Quit the band and then was convinced to rejoin in the middle of the Kilroy tour - Consequence: convinced to finish tour dates
6. Quit the band after the Kilroy tour - Consequence: Dennis refuses to keep Styx together without him - no new Styx music for 7 years
7. Signed over all rights of Styx sometime before the release of "Edge"
8. Said finishing Brave New Flop was not in his best interest unless he could be guaranteed a tour - Consequence: Dennis kicked when tour couldn't begin when Tommy wanted it to begin. A very poor Brave New World gets released and Stiffs...big time.
There is 8 right there...who knows how many more...

Well, I think the bottom line answer to this is that if DDY wasn't acting like an egotistical asshole who had to control everything, Tommy would not have felt compelled to quit. It is supposed to be the band Styx, not "The Dennis DeYoung Project".

You disagree that Froy calling Tommy a big baby is ironic?
Or is there something more laughably ironic that I missed today?

Big baby!! Ya right............................. After watching New Orleans battter him, this 40 + year old has to be one of the biggest bad asses of ALL time. The old man kept getting up. What a bad ass.
And Tommy is much older than Brett is.
Look at the beating Tommy aka Jonathan Chance took during the Kilroy & Girls With Guns Tours.
What a bad ass Tommy Shaw is too!!!
If Gowan joins Ratt, Styx ought to go after Brett.
