Now they're just a carbon copy?
brywool wrote:re-recording the songs in exactly the same way is really a waste of energy. These guys aren't getting any younger. I had no problem when it was Arnel/Journey because he had something to prove to the Journey fans. With Styx, they've already been touring with this lineup forever.
This is really a waste of time as far as I'm concerned.
"we have 100 songs in us"
Okay, let's hear 14...

Go ahead with your rerecording, give us a whole cd or two, heck make it a box set, but PLEASE put a whole cd (10 or more ) of new songs in there!!!!!!!

Who cares if someone KNOWS a song or not??? My god, you're at a show and you hear a new song and it's something different. COOL. If people want to hear the old stuff, they should just sit at home as far as I'm concerned.
If that's the case, no wonder radio is in the dumper, people just want to hear old stuff.
WHEN and WHY did this change with radio? Seriously, radio plays zero new music unless it's the rap/r&B stuff. I guess that's because that music has a bigger audience...
Is that MTV's doing? Maybe so...
I was listening to a "classic rock" station the other day (hate that term) and they through a new Ozzy song in there with the old. Why don't they do that all the time? Play the old artists, but also throw in some of their new stuff. New stuff isn't always worse than the old, sometimes, it's better.
Is this just an American phenomenon or is it like this everywhere?
Take a band like Oasis- Those guys were huge in Britain and their concerts were huge business. Those are mostly pretty new songs each tour they do. Why can't bands here do that?
Silly Humans.

When our Radio Show gets going you will see and hear how a radio station should be run,
It's now corporate crap when it comes to Classic rock radio and it's total shit, When was the last time you heard on the radio anything from Tommy Shaw Dennis DeYoung Roger Hodgson solo? Answer NEVER, The radio plays the same shit over and over again. I have a library of about 3000 cds and rare concerts and you bet I'm going to dig into those all the time. In fact I just pulled out a YES concert that was broadcast 1 time in Chicago live from the show real time, It was the Tormato tour and this show is freaking killer, Future Times, Circus of Heaven, Awaken and a unbelievable Medley of Time and a Word, Purpetual Change, Long Distance runaround and Soon. When was the last time you heard that on the radio? Answer 1978. Just wait you will see what's up my sleeve

Hi Froy- Hey, so is your station going to be an Internet Station? I'll send you some of my tracks! If not, can't you get into trouble playing bootleg cuts?
Yeah, I absolutely cannot stand "Classic Rock" radio. We have a station up here that used to be good and now they just play the same old stuff, day in and day out. It's terrible...
Honestly, I don't even know where to go to hear new music anymore...

I think there are a variety of reasons why. First of all, young people drive the trends. They have always defined popular music. That's just the way it is. In today's world, I think radio is virtually irrelevant to them. Why should they listen to radio when they can download a song for pennies (or free, if they know how) and have it forever. An iPod can hold thousands of songs...there is no need to listen to radio any longer.
I think pop culture defines who is 'in' on the music scene...much more then the music itself. How else can somebody like Lady Gaga be explained?I was listening to a "classic rock" station the other day (hate that term) and they through a new Ozzy song in there with the old. Why don't they do that all the time? Play the old artists, but also throw in some of their new stuff. New stuff isn't always worse than the old, sometimes, it's better.

Funny you should mention that.I was thinking the same thing.
But better there than here.
Froy honestly,I think that it will do you a lot of good spending time there, and not here.
Good luck.I may tune in,but I got a shitload of music on my I-Pod,with exactly what I like.
I'm sick of the narrow playlists of the various stations.
With 18000 songs on my pod ,enough for 2 months of solid listenings without repeat,I'm good.
If you play 'Moonlight Desire',let me know..
Al the best froy.
By the way ,I clicked on the link you gave and there were 8 suggestions of something, but nothing close to a web-station.
