Thanks for posting! I thought this was a pretty good interview. I added a few of his quotes to a couple threads here.

Thanks for posting this! Interesting that he went to see Paul McCartney in concert, sounds like he still buys records. I would be interested in seeing Dennis' music collection to see what all he listens to.

A few years ago I asked him what current music he likesand recently bought. Of course I don't remember all the bands/musicians he mentioned, but I know one was Keane

Interesting I can see that Keane very piano driven band, they have some catchy songs. I have 3 of their albums, their first one "Hopes and Fears" is classic.

We never get to hear anything about John Curelewski and when Dennis has a chance to elaborate we get "yep."

Awesome. It's also good to know that he discounts most of his best work. sweet.

Makes me wish I was going up to Quebec. I never saw Rubicon live. Wonder which show(s) he did them at. I guess I was lucky in RI in February when he did the title track.

Keanne's a great band. Great songs. I didn't like their last album though.

Good interview.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

I guess Styx better start playing Babe, Best of Times, Don't Let It End, Show Me The Way and Mr. Roboto. I would love to hear Gowan perform those songs.

You know what, you can find Gowan versions of "The Best of Times" (they played that for most of the first year he was in) and "Babe" (they played it once in Japan). The most diplomatic thing I can say is, there's a reason they dropped those songs. They just don't suit Gowan's vocal style at all. That's not a knock to him, because he has his strengths. But that type of singing is not one of them.

"Mr. Roboto" on the other hand, I can totally see Gowan pulling that off beause so much of his solo career is that synth-pop stuff anyway. It's not a big stretch and he's kitchsy enough to pull it off.

Can't wait to hear larry do queen of spades this fall. IMO i think larry did a better job with best of times then babe, although he did botch the intro for babe.

It still isn't confirmed that Lawrence will be singing Queen Of Spades this fall. When did they do Babe? I never heard of Lawrence singing that.

One other thought, this maybe is another reason the current Styx moved away from performing a large portion of popular DDY tunes. Simply because LG and other current members do not have the voice for them. Personally, I don't care for JY singing Lorelei.

If you are referring to my comment about JY, when I compare DDY's vocal performance to JY's I just feel that DDY's is better. Since DDY performed the original I think it would be safe to say that the band may have felt it was better suited for DDY to do the lead vocal on it. After all, both JY and DDY share writing credits so I'm sure he had input on it. That being said I am not saying that JY has a bad voice. Just on that song I do not prefer his performance. To each his own opinion. BTW, by now I think that just about everyone knows that you feel certain people posting here "don't understand music". You have made that point clear enough, give it a rest.
