Sounds like the record company sets the bands up to fail.
If you never have a hit, you in debt for life!
StyxCollector wrote:It's been like this FOREVER. This is not new news. In many cases, the label must get back every dime they've spent on promotion, production costs (including any videos), etc. before a member of the band truly sees any money. This is why, for example, when you watch the Rush documentary they were on a major label, a few tours in, and still not making anything.
This is also why publishing money is so important as well. There's a reason the guy that writes the hits makes more on those royalties. Album sales unless you sell a ton of copies really amounts to such a small piece of the pie.

Who do you think will try to sign him???

Many of the false rumors I start are heartbreaking for me to read.
It damn near killed me to read that Whitney Houston would soon be fronting Journey.

The Little River Band is going to really have to pony up if they want Tommy Shaw fronting them in 2012.
yogi wrote:P.S. I actually heard that about a month ago Tommy snuck off an auditioned for the job. When they asked him to sing Lady he sang the wrong one. It pissed some of the members of LRB off real bad.

Sorry Yogi, but the Yankees have more money than Outback!
