Luke says the dvd was filmed last nite in Copenhagen. Hopefully, they'll also do a cd release like FIB live.

As long as it's on DVD - a rip is not that hard to make...tho if the band makes more money off it, I'm all for it.

It will help Mike, so me too. Besides, Toto DVDs and live albums usually have fairly different sets, arrangements and lineups so I'm not so concerned with parting with some $$$ for them.

Personally, I always felt that Bobby sang the hell out of this one. Either way, the band is obviously having a blast. Luke says he feels like a kid in summer camp on this tour and it shows.

I mean, no matter what Luke says about how much fun he has going to do his own thing and his own songs, (and he was damn good when I saw him), there's no way playing some 150-person podunk bar in West Cleveland is more fun than playing bigger venues in Europe where people sing along to 75% of the set.

dvd was filmed in Copenhagen. For some reason, bands like to film a dvd at the beginning of a tour, as opposed to the end when all the kinks and chemistry is worked out...

Thanks. I saw Luke's tweet about the dvd. As for shooting concert dvds early...wasn't FIB Live shot near the end of the tour?

It just doesn't seem right without him. I hate how they finally got Dave and Steve P back and as soon as they do, now Bobby is gone.

I think they should do some shows with both of them - kind of like they did in the late 90's

Considering that Joe sits most of the choruses out and lets the BG singers do the heavy lifting, I'd say their performances are comparable. In fact, during Hold the Line, the band now needs 3 singers to do Bobby's job. As I said in an earlier thread, switching to Joe isn't an upgrade. The band is trading one old tenor for another old tenor. Sure, Joe can sing the chorus of Africa, but he needs the BG vocalists to do the very last "Bless the Rains" stanza which Bobby always went for. So the trade-off is moot. I agree. Bring 'em both back.

Someone on the Noticeboard had mentioned that the band was signing with Mascot records. Here's the press release for the new dvd/cd.

Sounded like he had a bad cold during one of his recent solo tour dates. He's pretty consistent. Great solo.

Good point. That said, I don't miss Bobby. I've seen him twice with Toto (2005 and 2007) and my impression was the same each time ... that he's an incredibly inconsistent live singer. I thought he'd sound spectacular on some songs and utterly dreadful on others.

Listening to the boots of this tour, Joe seems more consistent throughout, even if he doesn't quite have the same range.

I hear ya. In my opinion, if TOTO was gonna do a singer change they should trade-up. To me, that means a young guy who can sing the hell out of the catalogue. Think Joe or Fergie in their prime. At the same time, I understand that Luke needs to be motivated to play these songs on the road, and hanging with good buds like Joe (and Dave) are a large part of that.

Here's something kinda interesting...one of the BG singers on this tour was on American Idol. I think I actually caught this episode too.
