Will Dennis, Tommy, JY, Chuck.......

Postby yogi » Fri Aug 13, 2010 8:07 am

Here is my question, but before I ask it I must add you would think that the above would be old and wise enough to realize that their music wont go on forever( the rope is long but it's wearing thin). As with every disagreement there is blame on all sides . At some point( if they want it to happen) pride must be swallowed by all of the above. Surely they are smart enough to know that they( Dennis, Tommy, JY, and Chuck) have made some GREAT music together. They were icons to soo many. So now as time passes.....

Will Dennis, Tommy, JY and Chuck ever get up on stage again as Styx before the next member dies????

I like the current rendition of Styx, but the bottom line is that Dennis, Tommy, JY and Chuck are the surviving members of Styx. You also must include Todd because he did fill in for John while John was still living, and now John is dead. Glen was also a member when all 5 were alive so to a degree he counts.

Pride( foolishness) needs to be swallowed and they need to perfrom together as Styx before its too late!!

And i do agree in some of it.But i don't think JY will let it happen.Even if DDY was to come out and sing a few songs with them.I don't think either would agree to that.

With this band I've learned to never say never, but I give it an extremely small chance (like 1 - 2%). Something major would need to happen to even open the lines of communicaton.

What if TS grew a pair, told JY to stick it, and the rest of them carried on. Does anyone think that JY was REALLY that vital a cog? Hey, I appreciate his contributions in the grand scheme of things. When I think of classic Styx, I think of the three of them (DDY, TS, JY) first, then the others. But, I think they could survive a concert/tour by dropping the JY penned (or lead) songs. There really aren't that many. Heck, I could take is place. I can do a fair impersonation of his Miss America growl. OK, so they'd have to replace his guitar.

In the end, I agree, never going to happen in either case. I had always held out some hope, but no longer.

To me this has NOTHING to do with growing a pair or who was a Styx vital cog VS who wasnt.

What this has to do with is that there are currently 4 surviving members left. At one time they were truly loved by millions, they are still rock gods to many. Be smart enough to swallow your pride before it is too late.

Too late could be tomorrow, next week, or two years from now. No one know when too late will come, but chances are it will be soon.

I give them 4 years tops.

How damn hard is it to say I'm sorry????

But it is NOT a divorce. It was a job that they as a group did far far better than most. It was a job that brought all of them fame and fortune. It was a job that allowed them all to live their American Dreams.

And I would bet my last dollar that if one of them( Dennis, Tommy, JY, Chuck) died tomorrow, the remaining three till their dying day will wish that they had gotten the group back together. It will be a wish that they will NEVER have a chance to do again.

All they all need to do is say SORRY. Screw the lawyers( who they let get rich), screw their own stupid pride...... Say I'm sorry and get a GREAT band back together for one long( we hope) last hurrah.

It needs to happen soon or it will NEVER happen, and NEVER is a loooonnnnggggg ass time.

honestly, I don't think JY would say no to it. Enough time has gone by and everyone is doing what they want- INCLUDING Dennis.
But if Dennis came back, he would need to be more of a team player.
I think the bigger question would be if Dennis COULD do it? Jy is really in no position to say no. It's not like he's the
talent behind the band. Sure, he's a major part of it. ALL the members are, whether some here agree with that
or not (Yes, Virginia, Gowan too- sorry). I would think that with the way STYX is set up now that it would be more
fair to each member as opposed to the way Dennis set it up around EOTC time. That was completely unfair of him.
Either it's STYX the BAND or it's Dennis and some backing band, and that's not what it should be.

Coming back together or not, it WOULD be nice to see them become at least friendly before the next member goes.
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

I tend to agree with you. The wounds run deep between them. It's possible that some members are more against it then others. The question is who would be more against it then for it?

Your right that it was a job or business if you will. I think that that is one of problems. The members treated the group more like a business then a group of friends getting together to make music. It doesn't seem to me that any of them formed a bond, friendship whatever you want to call it beyond just being in the same band. If they had, maybe things would have turned out differently.

I will put my vote in the "No" column. It is possible that something could change that but damned if I can think of a single "something" right now.

Dennis has success as a solo artist right now, and he can control nearly everything that happens in this aspect of his public life. Touring Styx does well doing what they do. It seems to be a comfortable life for everyone involved.

I don't see any factor entering in here that would make them change what is going on right now with the separate careers.

Words to live by from BabyBlue - someone who breaks into a panting sweat at the mere mention of Gowan.

G - O - W - A - N , G - O - W - A - N, G - O - W - A - N

I just don't like him. I don't reserve a special chamber of hatred in my heart for him like Froy does, but sorry, he needs to go.
