BobbyinTN wrote:The church you protest against today might be your church that's protested against tomorrow. Setting a precedent like this, to say who can worship and who can't or where they can worship, is a very slippery slope, especially for Christians who want to continue to worship as they please.

Another fact is that Timothy McVeigh was a Christian and a terrorist. So, perhaps there should be no Christian churches in Fort Worth, Texas.
On Sunday mornings, the recruits were required to either attend church services or spend an hour cleaning the barracks. McVeigh, an agnostic, chose to clean the barracks until he found out that nobody took attendance at church. One Sunday, he signed up for church and just slipped away from the rest of his platoon. He found a field of tall grass and lay there, a little worried about snakes, but enjoying the opportunity to relax in solitude. The following Sunday, McVeigh signed up for church again. This time, he sneaked into an old abandoned barracks to kill time.
...paid a visit to the local Seventh Day Adventist Church, but he found that service bored him … McVeigh had never been inclined to criticize people for their religious views, but he concluded that organized religion wasn’t really for him. He believed that the universe was guided by natural law, energized by some universal higher power that showed each person right from wrong if they paid attention to what was going on inside of them.

Yeh, that he's a politician, up for re-election and willing to trade principle for votes - like ALL politicians. Dave is the only Con in this thread making any sense whatsoever.

and if they get the go ahead to build it...they better used the illegals to build it... because there will be no union head going 12 miles of that project... and how ironic is that... illegals building a mosque near ground zero... HOPE AND CHANGE... gotta love it...

In fact, since the asinine Republicans have decided to make it such an issue, I hope they build it regardless of any opposition or national feelings that have absolutely no relevance to what is going on in that community.

Is anyone really disputing that they have the right to do it? If they are, they're ignorant of the law. The have the right but morally, in my opinion, it's not the right thing to do.

Correct. We have the "right" to do a lot of things... I have the "right" to go.. say for example... tell off my boss... doesn't make it a good idea and would only cause problems, so I wouldn't do it.

^^^ Such a fitting caption to this pic, because it's such a major downgrade to the one you had posted.

You're ignorant to the fact that mosques already exist in that area of the city. When you have the leader of the DEM party Reid... telling them no, dont build it near ground zero... that tells you everything you need to know...
Yeah, that he's a pussy Democrat caving into political pressure....no different then the pussy Democrats who caved during the debate over the Iraq war.and if they get the go ahead to build it...they better used the illegals to build it... because there will be no union head going 12 miles of that project... and how ironic is that... illegals building a mosque near ground zero... You're a dumbass if you really feel that way, regardless of political ideology.

Do you see how badly that could go now?
The Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, no Japanese food in that area, EVER.
The Nazis killed Jews. No rye bread for them.
Andrew Jackson killed Indians, and yet, there's even money with his picture on it.
Guys, the argument could go so many ways and it's ridiculous to claim that any American who wants to build a church anywhere they can build it should be denied simply because of the actions of a few. If one church can't build, no church should be allowed to build.

That doesn't make it proper and building it is in bad taste, but apparently some people are oblivious to this fact, you included.

Ah, the gold standard in diversionary tactics...When in doubt, always blame Bush.

Wow!!! It is funny how the "slippery slope" card is ok for you to use in this case, but it was apparently absolute non-sense (as declared by you) for anybody using it in the Prop 8 discussion.
