Wooden Nickel Promo Poster

Postby kisscollector » Thu Aug 19, 2010 2:06 pm

Back in the early 90's a friend of mine gave me a bunch of old Styx posters for my birthday. I had rolled them up inside some other posters and misplaced them until I ran across them the other day.

I think this would be classified as pretty rare as it was from 1974 Wooden Nickel and still in pretty decent shape. I'm gonna have it framed soon.
Anyone know how rare it might be ?

Rare? Absolutely. Stuff from the WN/RCA days is not common.

Having said that, I can tell you posters today don't sell for shit for the most part. People have had some fairly rare stuff up on eBay over the years for insane prices that never sell. So I'd say today's value would be somewhere in the $20 - $40 range. Whether you could get that is a different story. It was rolled and appears to be in great condition, so that's a big plus.

Enjoy it. It'll look great framed.

I used to have SO many of these things. There was a used poster shop in Seattle and I remember I had all of the Paradise Theater stuff, including the big cardboard sign of the lighted "Paradise Theatre" sign and stuff for Cornerstone, Pieces of 8, etc. Some of it I still have somewhere, but I have no idea where...
Very cool to have the Wooden Nickel thing and thank god it wasn't for those ghastly reisued covers. God, those were ugly
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

Cool poster.

I keep looking for the 24x36 promo poster they used for Paradise Theater. I have the "closed" poster but I need the front cover version.

Is that the Blue one? I might actually have that. Out of all their albums, that had the best artwork.

I had a poster from the final night of the "Edge Of The Century" tour from LA, Calif. It was a black poster with the classic logo and said something like LA Two nights only with the dates on it. Had the A&M logo at the bottom. I ended up giving it to someone when I got married (someone I knew who would appreciate it and take care of it). There was no e-bay at the time or I would have tried to sell it. Also had the Paradise Theatre Posters, one of each "side" of the album. The poster was a bit more detailed than the album cover because the Theatre painting was much bigger.

Yes, it's the "Gala Premiere" side of the album cover. Show's the whole front of the Paradise Theater to the top arch.
