I can't believe people don't like "Shooz". That's a great tune. Excellent slide work from Shaw and also a great vocal. Always been one of my absolute favorite tracks. Is there a live version of that from the Crystal Ball tour available anywhere? Did they do that one live other than in the medley?

The album artwork is sure leaps and bounds over the CSA package. Not sure who handles the artwork for their albums, but from EOTC onward, the art has been crap. Paradise Theatre- THERE was an album cover. Same with Cornerstone. Great covers. Eotc- blech. Brave New World- the worst (yeah, I know, Shaw blessed that one).
NO. He's NOT Steve F'ing Perry. But he's Arnel F'ing Pineda and I'm okay with that.

Only included to give Tommy Shaw more royalties from the sales of a Greatest Hits package. Saves them from having to pay Dennis for yet another one of his hit songs.

If Shooz were truly a "best of" song, none of us would like the band.

Agreed SHOOZ SUCKZ

Awful song that sounds NOTHING like Styx. Period.

I think its ridiculous that you have so many non hits on there like Shooz and Love Is The Ritual and you leave DLIE off?

it's a best of not a hits. both those are infinite times better than DLIE

Shooz should not be on any best of anything period.

i guess shooz is too rockin' for lt.varnish. DLIE is the kind of song people listen to when sucking kenny rogers' cock

Go away asshole...

Did they ever do Ballerina live? Also like that song a lot. A little long in the outro, but still a good tune.

BTW, for those who care this yet ANOTHER mastering job. I haven't cracked open the 1CD, but the 2CD is mastered by Mark Omann at UMS-W Los Angeles, CA.

It seems tonally similar, with a bit more top end and maybe a touch louder than the CSA/Gold collection mastered by Bob Ludwig. I didn't do an in depth comparison and probably won't for awhile.

I'd say this one is for completists (like myself) only.

Didn't they have a ballerina dance on stage during the song? I know for sure during 2 or 3 shows they had a dancer. Ugh, now I have to find that article.

I saw the Crystal Ball tour and do not remember them playing Ballerina. But of course that was 34 years ago!

"Shooz" is alright, but does not belong on a hits compilation, and doesn't really sound like Styx. Where is "Queen Of Spades"? They obviously are again giving DDY the shaft. No "Don't Let It End"? Of course, since this collection just seems like a bargain version of "Styx Gold", what else would you expect? They shorted DDY on that one as well. Buy "Greatest Hits", one and two.

$11.88

"Universal's 2010 collection Icon 2 doubles its companion Icon, adding another disc and another 12 songs. This is enough space to feature such hits as ""The Best of Times"" -- although, sadly, ""Don't Let It End"" is still MIA -- and makes this worthwhile for the Styx fan who wants to dig deeper than the basics offered on Icon. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide"

1. Renegade
2. Come Sail Away
3. Mr. Roboto
4. Babe
5. Fooling Yourself (The Angry Young Man)
6. Lorelei
7. Blue Collar Man (Long Nights)
8. Too Much Time On My Hands

9. Lady
10. Snowblind
11. Mademoiselle
12. Show Me The Way

Disc 2 (of 2)

1. Light Up
2. Crystal Ball
3. Miss America
4. Boat On The River
5. Borrowed Time
6. Suite Madame Blue
7. The The Grand Illusion
8. Love Is The Ritual
9. The The Best Of Times
10. Man In The Wilderness
11. Shooz
12. Lights

1 song from JY shows how important he is

just because he only sang one of those doesn't make him not vital to the other songs

Well it does if you are talking about song contributions to the group. He certainly wasn't vital in that department. Let's be realistic here.

and two of those songs were sung by jy, three if you count loreli now that it's on the awesome Regeneration

JY's version of Loreli on Regeneration is terrible. His vocal is so whiny. At first I almost thought it was Gowan. If that's your definition of "awesome" then it's a dead ringer.

The art work for BNW was the first step in the evolution of Styx to the "Best Version Ever". Looked like something from a high school art project. Hope they didn't pay too much for it. Tommy must have liked the covers from the Wooden Nickel reissues.
