EVERYBODY
EVERYBODY knows that if JY had released "Wild Dogs" as a single that it would've surpassed even BABE as Styx's hugest hit? HOW can you ignore the magic of JY????
You guys just want to keep down the honest and true and ONLY talented member of Styx. Without JY, they would've been STYNX and you know it!!
How DARE you ignore such greatness!??
"I AM JY, AND I WILL CRUSH YOU WITH MY CRUSHING GUITAR MAJESTY"
I find now that throughout the day, I ask myself "What would JY do?"

brywool wrote:actually, I think if Styx came out with another "Paradise" song that the record buying public would've audibly sighed and not purchased it. Paradise Theater. Rocking The Paradise. Paradise, can it be all I heard it was? ... The end of Paradise. And then of course, there was Almost Paradise with Ann Wilson and Mike Reno. It was Paradise overkill.
I remember when Dennis released "Paradise"- I thought, here we go again... Good song, but I wish he'd have used a different lyrical touch point.
"Hairy Thighs" maybe?

Not sure. Just grabbed it. I think it was the same time period, though I can't imagine JY going for the Danelectro...

Who really cares? No one did then and no does now. I remember when he released these albums and going to the record store to buy them. Couldn't find them anywhere and when you would ask the sales clerk about it all you would get from them was a "deer in the headlights look" and "who is he again".

LOL! That reminds me of something else - I remember when JY used to send out these newsletters to his fans in the late 80s on his "solo career" and I think he was promoting Out On a Day Pass. I remember in one of the newsletters he explained that his new album was out on LP, but not available on cassette. But if you wanted it on cassette that a homemade cassette tape would be made of the album and sent to you along with the album cover. I was like, WTF? Is JY going to be sitting in his living room pushing the record button on his living room stereo tape deck to make me a "cassette copy" of the album? I found it hilarious. Hilarious that a) JY had a record deal where he got LPs but not cassette tapes, and b) the fact that a cassette copy would actually be made from the LP and sent to you with the album jacket!!
It was at that point I knew that the Styx star had fallen indeed.

Then I got the LP and the yelling that JY's dinner was ready wasnt on it. On my cassette it's at the 2:03 mark of Toys For American Boys where you hear' Honey your dinners ready, I made green lime jello with fruit in it, come on now'
To no surprise this was the best part of the song.

Sitting here LMAO. First of all, JY -- Tough Guy in his blonde, perm, frizz 'do. (I know various member had some strange styles back in the day, but this one remains a classic.)
My guess is, it was easy for JY to fill that "demand" for cassette tapes (with the album cover bonus!) because, likely, he, or his friends in the living room, only had to make about 3 copies to send out.
Dang, Yogi! That's a true rarity you own there with the dinner call-out in the background. Don't lose it!
Bugsy
