I'll be doing a formal review on my site this week, but great show. As critical as I was of the one back in February whic had its issue, this one was about as good as it gets, and arguably one of the best Styx-related shows I've seen going back to the EOTC tour. It was great to go with my Dad who had never seen any kind of Styx show before (hard to imagine, right? lol).

Would have loved to have seen that. Seem like kind of a meager set list though, given he's getting rest on 4 of them. That feels like ~60 minutes of actual performance (if you allow for ~ 4 mins per song), not including the intro, exit, or between song banter. Maybe I expect more for the $.

A Kick Ass STYX Concert

Ha ... made me laugh (not).

It was basically vocals (with harmonies where you would expect), acoustic guitar (Jimmy), and the solo was done on electric by August. I liked the arrangement, and a highlight of the night to hear it done very differently.

Dennis has an EXCELLENT band with great musicianship that's hard to beat. LAst night I would definitely say that Styx is going to have to up their game. I'll leave it at that for now. I'll put a few more thoughts in my review around this.

I'm seeing Styx next month. Since it's been awhile, I'm not going to comment on them as of yet.

I'm not trying to be an asshole here. It just seems like nearly every thread becomes a Styx or Dennis sucks thread depending on someone's viewpoint, or someone wants to egg someone else on. I have no problem with people having any criticisms of the concert and such, but I think we've got enough other places to take DDY vs. Styx snipes

I love Desert Moon that is my fave.

It holds up well after all of these years. Can't say that for some tunes on that album which are very much sonically a product of their time. I still wish Dennis would do "Don't WAit For Heroes". Apparently he did it once or twice a few years back.

He's not opposed to it and from a song/arrangement standpoint, it'd slot in well (it's uptempo, has good harmonies, can rock it up a bit, etc.). But with the current format of the show which is more focused on Styx, it may not work. He does like the tune and maybe the bug I planted in his ear will make it happen at some point. So no time soon, but it's certainly a possibility.

"Call Me" is an underrated song. It's no "Desert Moon", but it deserved better than it got. "This Is The Time" is extremely catchy. I guess maybe the lyrics weren't bubble gum enough for 1986?
