You're making assumptions again. You don't know the conditions in which these were given to her, you don't the reasons for which she is selling them, and you're assuming that everyone is as sentimental as you are about everything.

With any luck, she saw the humor in what I posted and didn't act like an uptight dope like someone else.

I'm gonna give her the benefit of the doubt and assume that she has enough backbone to deflect what everyone else was able to recognize as an innocent wisecrack.

Granted, I could be wrong, but you're really starting to come across like some overly engrossed Styx fan who feels the need to be more sensitive than a lambskin condom when it comes to anything related to the Styx guys. Your "Shame on you!" bullshit fear tactics ain't gonna work here. Just a heads up.

Me?!?! I'm posting my thoughts/feelings on the subject ...you're the one who came up with
the possibility of a back~up collection at Tommy's place ...if I had known there was more than one,
this conversation would've been over posts ago ...

How did you eff up the quotes?!?!

She didn't find it humorous at all.

I usually don't give a flying fuck. I've met the guys and I don't put them on a pedistal - they're just people like you and me. I treat them like I would want to be treated if I see them (and I've run into some of them in non-music situations). To be dead honest, I don't really think about Styx all that much these days. I'm too busy otherwise.

I've interacted with Hannah in the past and she's as nice as can be. Unlike some people's heroes, she's not in the limelight. She may be selling items, but that's it. For people to speculate about her as well as her relationship with her Dad is pointless. Because she's trying to find a good home for things, and I know where Styx fans go, I posted the list here. So yeah, I will defend her because she's done nothing wrong here.

Call Tommy Shaw or Dennis DeYoung an asshole all day long here (well, that happens lol) - I don't think either would take too kindly to fodder about their kids.

Obviously no one read my post in the other thread regarding the Ebay sales.......

Holy cow, some of you on here don't have a clue.

Do you think Tommy would open up his own Ebay account selling items. Um, I'm pretty sure they didn't have any falling out, it's just a daughter helping her Dad sell some stuff on Ebay that he no longer wants.

I know a few musicians that have other people sell stuff for them (one a family member is selling and another a friend that has day to sell stuff for them). They no longer want/need a few items and they want fans that would appreciate these items to have them.

I also know for a fact that there is a musician who had a friend sell some items for him and all the money went to a charity. And also the same person sold some cool items and all the money went to a person and his family for his cancer treatments, he didn't have insurance (he ended up passing away a few years after). That person that sold the stuff didn't take any cut from the selling.

You continue to miss the point. There was no intent to hurt, humiliate or trash anyone's reputation, and that was more than pointed out. If a slapstick post or the mere speculation that she *may* be estranged from her father is gonna get you and/or her all riled up, I would suggest that you stray away from the internet and tune in to the Cartoon Network.

This all makes perfect sense to me. But I still don't think people need to go to Defcom 1 (not referring to you) because of some innocent offhand comments.

The point is, she didn't take kindly to it so even though you had no intent, it wound up having the opposite effect. I'm a sarcastic guy and dish quite a bit, but there are lines that just shouldn't be crossed. I think people's kids is one of them.

Some of the rudest, most insensitive remarks have been made under the guise of "innocent joking." The excuse is as old as it is unacceptable.

All we need is a BB "Gowan Rocks!", and a Froydian "He's a goof", and this thread's complete.

A bit of interesting interaction on what started out as an innocuous subject about old crap being available on E-bay.

Oh brother. But because I'm in the mood to hit my face against a brick wall, I'll explain:

You were going on about how these were "family treasures" (assumption) and how you would be concerned if your child was getting rid of family treasures like this - while also presuming that Tommy "needs to communicate with his daughter" (assuming he hasn't been). I was only trying to illustrate what was presumptuous about these comments by giving examples of how they might not be "treasures" to the Shaw clan, that's all. I have no idea how many (if any) "gold records" Tommy has in his home, or if he cares about them at all. Maybe he does, maybe he doesn't. Maybe he gave them to Hannah when she was a baby, maybe Pamela got them in the divorce, maybe he gave them to her last month to sell FOR him, Maybe she stole them out of Dennis DeYoung's trunk one day in 1998. Maybe it's none of the above.

My point is and was that you have no way of knowing the motivations behind these sales, or whether or not they are "sentimental" to any of the parties involved.

It would please me if he'd just interact w/his daughter and keep these treasures in the family where they belong ...or a public facility for all fans to enjoy!! Other than that, I've never wondered ...

Maybe it would please them if fans would just stop making ignorant assumptions about their personal lives.

I feel certain of it ...the fact remains; if my child were selling off family treasures, I would question it as well!!

Well, you're seeing it from a fan's perspective, not Tommy's. Do you realize how much of this kind of shit he probably has? Maybe these aren't "family treasures" to him, maybe it's old stuff he doesn't want anymore. To him there is probably not that much more sentimental value in this stuff than there would be to me if I sold off my old reading award certificates from third grade or something. What's he gonna do, put an old award from Deutschland up on his wall and stare at it? Or awards for songs he dislikes so much that he refuses to play them? Kinda unlikely.

Also, did it occur to anyone here that maybe Tommy gave his blessing for this stuff to be sold?

Exactly! Jesus Christ, people, even the Mafia leaves peoples' kids out of it. Tommy, Dennis, JY, et al . . . those guys signed up for a certain amount of bullshit when they signed a record contract. That's the deal with the Devil. Their families did not sign up for it.

Surely that can't be hard to understand.
