Tommy could have 100 of them at his place and notMichigan Girl wrote:Maybe they're not family treasures. Maybe Tommy has 6 more of each one just like them at his place. "Things" have meaning for certain periods of time. Sometimes, they stay meaningful, and sometimes, they lose their significance to those who possess them. one of those hundred are the one he gave to her, his child, thee single biggest thrill of his life!!
Now, if you're going to compare these objects with human life then no, they're insignificant!!
But then you're talking to a girl who cried when she had to hand over her original SS card, signed
in her little girl handwriting ...and I'm noone!!
You're making assumptions again. You don't know the conditions in which these were given to her, you don't the reasons for which she is selling them, and you're assuming that everyone is as sentimental as you are about everything.

Because ALL I do every day, 24x7, is look for new Styx items. Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight.

I'm too busy otherwise.
I've interacted with Hannah in the past and she's as nice as can be. Unlike some people's heroes, she's not in the limelight. She may be selling items, but that's it. For people to speculate about her as well as her relationship with her Dad is pointless. Because she's trying to find a good home for things, and I know where Styx fans go, I posted the list here. So yeah, I will defend her because she's done nothing wrong here.
Call Tommy Shaw or Dennis DeYoung an asshole all day long here (well, that happens lol) - I don't think either would take too kindly to fodder about their kids.

SuiteMadameBlue wrote:Obviously no one read my post in the other thread regarding the Ebay sales.......
Holy cow, some of you on here don't have a clue.
Do you think Tommy would open up his own Ebay account selling items. Um, I'm pretty sure they didn't have any falling out, it's just a daughter helping her Dad sell some stuff on Ebay that he no longer wants.
I know a few musicians that have other people sell stuff for them (one a family member is selling and another a friend that has day to sell stuff for them). They no longer want/need a few items and they want fans that would appreciate these items to have them.
I also know for a fact that there is a musician who had a friend sell some items for him and all the money went to a charity. And also the same person sold some cool items and all the money went to a person and his family for his cancer treatments, he didn't have insurance (he ended up passing away a few years after). That person that sold the stuff didn't take any cut from the selling.

If a slapstick post or the mere speculation that she *may* be estranged from her father is gonna get you and/or her all riled up, I would suggest that you stray away from the internet and tune in to the Cartoon Network.

I don't care if she's 2 or 23. We were not talking about her losing sleep.
This is the last I'm going to say before I bow out and let the lunatics finally take over the asylum.

Oh brother. But because I'm in the mood to hit my face against a brick wall, I'll explain:
You were going on about how these were "family treasures" (assumption) and how you would be concerned if your child was getting rid of family treasures like this. I was only trying to illustrate what was presumptuous about these comments by giving examples of how they might not be "treasures" to the Shaw clan, that's all. I have no idea how many (if any) "gold records" Tommy has in his home, or if he cares about them at all. Maybe he does, maybe he doesn't. Maybe he gave them to Hannah when she was a baby, maybe Pamela got them in the divorce, maybe he gave them to her last month to sell FOR him, Maybe she stole them out of Dennis DeYoung's trunk one day in 1998. Maybe it's none of the above.
My point is and was that you have no way of knowing the motivations behind these sales, or whether or not they are "sentimental" to any of the parties involved.

Fair enough. It's a draw.
I'm in a pissy mood anyway. I'll post that in another thread. Don't want what's bothering me tainted with the crap from this thread. lol

It would please me if he'd just interact w/his daughter and keep these treasures in the family where they belong ...or a public facility for all fans to enjoy!! Other than that, I've never wondered ...
Maybe it would please them if fans would just stop making ignorant assumptions about their personal lives.
I feel certain of it ...the fact remains; if my child were selling off family treasures, I would question it as well!!
