To him there is probably not that much more sentimental value in this stuff than there would be to me if I sold off my old reading award certificates from third grade or something. What's he gonna do, put an old award from Deutschland up on his wall and stare at it? Or awards for songs he dislikes so much that he refuses to play them? Kinda unlikely.

Also, did it occur to anyone here that maybe Tommy gave his blessing for this stuff to be sold?

Damn, that's Sterling AND Allan I've agreed with in the same day. Somebody better call the #*@&!#$ media!

It would please me if he'd just interact w/his daughter and keep these treasures in the family where they belong ...or a public facility for all fans to enjoy!! Other than that, I've never wondered ...

Maybe it would please them if fans would just stop making ignorant assumptions about their personal lives.

I feel certain of it ...the fact remains; if my child were selling off family treasures, I would question it as well!!

I posted that information in the other thread that no one went back to :)

I do know that band members/families visit this site, not often like they use to. I also know that members from other bands check out these forums too at times. Some do giggle at times.

I actually posted that before finishing reading the thread . . . therefore did not know that Zan had basically already said the same thing, LOL.

I think a disclaimer needs to be stated at the beginning of each thread so band members, family and children are not offended by the content of the threads.

This place could certainly use a LUBE THE EFF UP BEFORE ENTRY warning!! I mean a small amount of friction can be pleasant, but some folks behaved as though we rolled into town, stole all your firstborn and SJ raped all your women!! Now, where is the thread for Can I still be considered a fan if I don’t care for Tommy’s version of Open Arms?!?! ...

I somehow don't think when Tommy joined Styx they anticipated online forums debating things like this. I think the most they had to do with critical reaction and overall success (i.e. the dollars coming in ... or not). That is of course an over generalization, but in the 70s no one had this level of access to their favorite bands. If you were lucky you got a newsletter in the mail every so often or read an article in a magazine or newspaper.

You are not the first to jump to conclusions based on fandom, believe me. My most memorable bizarre "fan perspective" experience was back around 2001 when a group of gals from the Styxworld BB were starting a collection to buy Tommy a new laptop after his broke, and he was unable to post "Notes from the band" for a few weeks.
That's right: they wanted everyone to chip in $20 to buy Tommy Shaw a new laptop. I still believe firmly that had any of them stopped for one second to think about how ridiculous that was, the idea would have died a relatively quick death. They meant well. But it was pretty loopy. LOL

Again, this is not about Tommy, who chose to be a public figure. It's about his family members, who did not.

Would Dennis react well if HIS kids were the subject of this thread? I think not, and more power to him.

You'd have a point, but:

A) no one's kids were the "subject of this thread." That is, of course, until some here made a mountain out of a mole hill.

B) the constant fanning of the flames to garner brownie points with other Styx zealots and/or band members and their kin turned out to be exponentially sadder than the harmless assumptions and hyperbole that preceded them. But keep dragging this out ... you're halfway to a free ticket to a show.

Look, SHE decided to sell stuff on the Internet. That is a public forum. Some people chose to wonder why that was. Some may have clearly gone over the line, while others were just speculating. Point being, if you decide to sell a bunch of gold records nd guitars on the net of a famous guitarist who happens to be your father, people are just going to wonder what is up. If the Trump girl decides to put stuff of her dad's out there for sale on ebay, people are going to wonder why. Welcome to being a celebrity. If she doesn't want people asking or wondering then a) don't sell it, or b) say the reason upfront - hey guys, we have these laying around, we don't need them, we have too many things on the walls and I want someone who is a fan to be able to have them. Speculation ended. That is just the way it is. sorry. Normal goes out the window when you are auctioning off rare things.

I go away for a few days and all hell breaks loose in here again.

Pot shots even in jest at Hannah have no place in here or anyone else. I didn't find the comment sarcastic or funny.

Hannah can sell these for whatever reason she wants. She contacted me through my website and said she wanted to make sure Styx fans could get ahold of them.

She clearly wanted to get them to Styx fans who might want a piece of memorabelia for their home.

People here have to lighten up. Pot shots at the regulars in here are one thing, but the orignal premise of this thread is just a sad state of those that participate in this shit.

Nope welcome to the Styx forum where nobody never let anything go, hasn't changed in years. I think I am going to start yet another thread speculating why Styx parted ways with DDY. I have a theory and speculating is a lot of fun.

Maybe Hannah is going to take the money from the sale of these items and donate it to a worthy charity I'm pretty sure Tommy doens't need the money and she probably doesn't either.
