The Real Reason DDY departed ways with the band

Postby LtVanish » Wed Oct 13, 2010 2:52 pm

I heard a story recently that DDY has written a sequel to Kilroy called "The Rise and Fall of Dr. Righteous" which would basically be centered around Dr. Righteous' Museum of Rock Pathology and the MMM, basically the same story line except from the MMM perspective.

In short Dennis ended up walking out during the recording sessions of the Everything is Cool album and the rest of the band hired Gowan who basically had an album already planned about Atlanta's Cyclorama museum, and for the band to record there.

Personally I do NOT think that Dennis EVER wanted to leave Styx. I think that it was the other members that wanted Dennis gone.

I believe the conversation went something like: Tommy to JY and Chuck " I dont care who is listening we are going to do this for us" "If no one listens to us who cares" " We are going to do this, the time is right and we are going to have fun getting our music out there"" Whether anyone listens or not who cares this is for us".

Wait is this Tommy Shaw talking to JY and Chuck about Styx moving forward without Dennis or is this Froy talking about his internet radio station venture?????

Who Knows???

I wish both Styx & Froy the best!!!!

P.S. Froy is playing some GREAT music. Is Styx?

Yea they are working on it. Seems as if Chuck met Dennis at the funeral and everything is patched up.
How's that sound?

Ya I am enjoying it. I have it on on my computer at work. When I am in my office or in between classes I listen.

Side 2 of the Cars debut rivals Equinox & Pieces Of Eight as the best Side 2's ever.

You also need to find Triumphs Just A Game album 4 GREAT songs on it. The title track, Hold On, Lay It On The Line & Suitcase Blues.

April Wines Nature Of The Beast & Power Play are also very good albums. April Wine has a GREAT King Biscuit Concert that I own.
Also Cinderella Live at the Key Club is excellent.
Have not heard much Pink Floyd out of you.

Burtniks Welcome To Hollywood AWESOME!! Superboy, Bam, Another, All Thats Yet To Come & The Muse are GREAT!

Keep it going!!

"All The Lovers In The World" is actually a rather enjoyable tune by him, so consider this a vote for that song in particular.

Tuned in and enjoyed it. Great job. Now in my favorites and I'll listen when possible.

I'd be interested hearing a show of the best of the newer music produced by the classic rock acts (after their peak sales era). I know of your issues with Styx (even though I don't always agree, in that Cyclorama has a couple of good songs), but what about the newer releases of Journey, Doobie Brothers, Heart, Boston (not so new now), DDY, etc. that never received the airplay they deserved. The many great cuts that most fans don't even know exist need to get out there somehow. Just a thought.
