Gonna Ask One More Time--Styx at the TEXXAS JAM 1983??????

Does anyone have a copy of either/both the Dallas Cotton Bowl show and/or the Houston Astrodome show? At one time, a poster by the name of Styx Fan posted that they had the Houston show, but never answered my PM. If you have either or both of these shows, I'd be eternally appreciative!

Was it as bad as they made it out to be on BTM?

Not AT ALL. They were great and for the most part the crowd LOVED the show. All the booing was about the Texas Blue Laws which prohibits the sale of alcohol on Sundays.

Before Styx came out on stage they came over the PA and announced in accordance with Texas Ordinance 2666666( Blue Laws ) alcohol would no longer be sold. Well thye problem with that was it was still Saturday night and not Sunday. People were pissed. Add to this is was about 110 degrees that day. Most people had been there since 10 or 11 am the bathroom facilities were hoorendous etc....

The booing seen on the Behind The Music had NOTHING to do with Styx. The Concert was GREAT!!!

P.S. they did take far too long to start their show( almost 1 hour). That was the only complaint I heard about them

Not to mention the booing in that was edited in from the CITA video where the audience was booing Dr. Righteous, which was supposed to happen. They deliberately cut that in there knowing perfectly well it was out of context.

I went to several Kilroy shows in California and never heard anything close to a boo. The crowd left happy every time totally pumped up.
That VH1 show was bullshit. Plain and simple.

I saw it in Orlando Labor Day weekend 1983. I'm pretty sure it was after Tommy had indicated to the band that he was gone after the tour, but you wouldn't have been able to tell at all. It was a great show and the crowd was really into it. In fact, there had been a big article in the Orlando Sentinel the day before - an interview with Chuck in which Chuck said that the band was shopping the Kilroy story to movie houses!!! They also talked about the satanic message controversy and Chuck said that it was all false - in fact that they were all a bunch of Catholic boys and that on Kilroy that there was actually a Christian backwards message (Annuit Coeptis..). Anyway, when JY went into his diatribe about backwards satanic messages, the crowd starting chanting (bullsh*t, bullsh*t!, bullsh*t!). This clearly got JY off his script and he stopped for a second and then yelled, "You're damn right it' bullsh*t!" Sort of a off the rehearsed path for a Styx concert....

very important out of Jim Cahill's diatribe "They did not want to see robots in rubber suits and actors ...
it was depressing, it was heartreaking, maybe the worst Styx gig I've ever been to ... nope I take that back,
the next night in Houston was worse." :? I'm not a fan of Roboto, but I wish I had seen it, now!!!

No boos at our show in Philly on Sept 25, 1983. I FELT like booing the soundman since the sound wasn't the greatest where we were sitting in the Spectrum. But the band was fine and the crowd was totally into it. In fact, other friends of mine, who were sitting closer, said the sound was just fine where they were.

I saw the Roboto tour many times and loved all the shows, I remember no Lady at a few shows in the first leg which I thought was interesting,
Nobody was booing except when JY was yelling for the crowd to go back to your seats your all under arrest which was part of the show.
Just think if Shaw was not coked out the band would have gone on and did a follow up to Roboto but no he had to go and do What If instead.

Kiss Me Hello & Free To Love You are two of Tommy's better songs- Both are SOLID. I also like Lonely School. There is 4 very good songs off of Girls With Guns.

Girls With Guns, Outside In The Rain & The Race Is On are all OK

Tour yes album no. I didnt like this album because Dennis was my favorite member in the band. For me this album was horrendous for him. I didnt like a single one of his songs on this album. I like his reprise the best. That says it all.

I was a Styx fan before Tommy. Equinox is my favorite Styx album. Guess what NO Tommy Shaw. I loved Edge Of The Century ( album & tour ) guess what ? No Tommy Shaw.

Johan Santana was my favorite Twin. When the Twins traded him to the Mets I was still a Johan Santana fan but also more of a Minnesota Twin fan.

kilroy in cincinnati, was sold out, and one of the best shows ive seen, loved the production, pushed the envelope of concerts, glad they taped it and finally released the dvd

ps if there was booing at the texas jam, im sure it was because styx was not as heavy a band as the rest, and shouldnt havebeen on the bill not because of the production of the show
