Dennis is NOT Styx, Tommy is NOT Styx, Glen is NOT Styx, JY is not Styx, Gowan is not Styx, Todd is NOT Styx, Ricky is NOT Styx, Chuck is Not Styx, John C was NOT Styx, and John P. was NOT Styx

Styx is Styx. They are the SUM of their members. And currently Styx is Tommy, JY, Ricky, Gowan, Todd & sometimes Chuck. Its just like when Glen took over for Tommy I was still a Styx fan. I was a Styx fan before Tommy. Equinox is my favorite Styx album. Guess what NO Tommy Shaw. I loved Edge Of The Century ( album & tour ) guess what ? No Tommy Shaw.

Johan Santana was my favorite Twin. When the Twins traded him to the Mets I was still a Johan Santana fan but also more of a Minnesota Twin fan.

I feel the EXACT same way with Dennis and Styx. Do I wish he was back in Styx Hell yes. Do I wish Johan was back with the Twins Hell yes.

For me its the EXACT same thing with Styx.

Thats my answer Froy!

Styx was the sum of it's members. Now it's just a shadow of a once great band trying to prove that they are better then in their hay day. What's sad is that some of the existing band members actually believe it.

They'll never be as good as they were in their prime. However imo this is the best line up in the past 15 years.

Subtle slam against Glen on that one. Still sore that he wanted to kick your ass?

Can't say I agree. If DDY was still there I feel they would be closer to being as good as they were in their prime. As I said it's just crazy that JY thinks this is a better version of the band then the previous line up.

Speaking of Cold War, why doesn't this current line-up play the song?

1. It wasn't a hit.
2. It is on Kilroy.

Cold War was Styx at their Dsco/ Techno best.

That song is as bad or worse than Hip/Hop.

Absolutely AWEFUL !!

It's miles ahead of anything on JY's solo albums. Those are the industry standard for "absolutely awful". I heard that music schools use them as teaching examples to show the students what not to do.

Cold War could have or should been the first single from 'Out On A Day Pass'.

It is on par with Friendly Advise, True Confessions, and This Is Not A Test. Would have been perfect on the 'classic' What If' album.

It is a HORRIBLE HORRIBLE song!!!

Agree 100% - it was almost like "OK I need a techno-upbeat TMTOMH type of song so let me throw this one out there." Not even close to TMTOMH and to further prove how absolutely out of his mind TS was, he thought that a live version of this song would be a better choice as a single than HWBHB and thus derailed that single AFTER they had spent all the $$$$ to make a video (how much over his career has TS wasted on videos that never saw the light of day? - first GWG video comes to mind). Then the record company said, "screw you Styx, we'll release High Time" and that was a total stiff and was one of many things that killed Kilroy's momemntum.

sorry Epresley, looks like everyone strayed from your question again. I guess the answer is "no".

Good thing it turned into an interesting topic that's never been discussed. I hope to see more of these thoughtful discussions around what people think about the current lineup. Especially in comparison to the former lineup(s).

Hope you find what you're looking for.
