Christmas Album

Postby Infinity Vocalist 2010 » Sun Dec 12, 2010 3:56 pm

Anybody think that a Christmas album from Steve would have been awesome? I've recently imagined him singing things like "Bells Will Be Ringing" and "The Christmas Song" and "Last Christmas". I was just wondering because people tell me I'm similar to him vocally (though I can't testifiy for or against it, I hate my voice) and I'm thinking of covering some Christmas tunes just for fun, and then I though that I'd like to hear what everyone would have thought if the man himself had come out with an X-mas cd.

I think that would be awesome if Steve did a Christmas CD.
I would love to hear him sing those songs you mentioned.

Steve has been asked about this before...both in and out of Journey. Never did sound enthused about making such a recording. Kind of like his answers when asked about singing the SBB at ball games....a hard thing to do and he would want to do it justice...so one would take it as "no." Yep, SP is a perfectionist...and like he has said many times, he is his own worst critic.

Perry should do a duet with McCartney like Bowie did with Crosby. Great song and it has had lots of radio play since then.

While I love the idea, if Steve was ever interested in doing a Christmas album, he would have done one by now.

Might the same be said for a new album from him? What is it, 16 years?

I still think the odds of Steve ever releasing anything new is remote. :( That being said, he's more likely to release new music that he wrote then to ever do a rehash of Christmas songs, Motown hits, old standards etc. I believe that if Steve doesn't have anything to say he'll remain silent. I'm hoping that as he sees a whole new generation of fans embracing the music he helped create, he just might feel there are enough people out there who are still interested in his music to make it worth his while. If it doesn't happen now, it never will.

No, no, NO!!! Nothing against Perry on this, but we are not in need of any new Christmas albums from anyone. There's no need for re-records of songs that were fine as is when recorded 40-60 years ago, and newly written Christmas songs usually stink anyway.

Last Christmas should only be sung by George Michael. A Christmas album from Steve......how many more times can Christmas songs be sung different ways? Would be nice but he never seemed enthused to do one when asked.
