He's by far the best artist to come out of that show.

I watched it and I was surprised at how much I really liked the new judges. I LOVED Simon and didn't think the new judges would be as good but I love Tyler and I even thought JLo was good. Better than I expected.

I have to admit, I was pretty skeptical at first. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I really did like the new judges. J-Lo & Tyler represent two different genres of music, yet they both have a unique understanding of vocal talent and/or potential talent. I was pleasantly surprised at how "like-able" Steven Tyler really was. Was I put off by his occasional out-burst? Not in the least. Hey, that's what he does for a living. Besides, he's Steven Freaking Tyler, he can do what he wants. If he says this is the way you outta sing it, then damn it, that's the way you outta sing it. It's free advice from a legend.

Have to agree, I was expecting Tyler to be trainwreck and Lopez to be a diva. But I liked them, and I think the 3 of them are going to work just fine.

:? :(

...another observation...
You can tell how skewed the demographics are, by the contestants who come on the show. I was shocked (and feeling a little dated) to see how many of the contestants were practically in tears seeing J-Lo. Going on and on about their undying love and admiration for everything she's done...and there sits Steven Tyler. Hello?? Legend? Rock god? Anybody??...anybody??...nothing... :(

I'm glad Randy has a job. What a talentless tool. If it were not for AI, in this point of his career, he'd be out on a corner drinkin a 40 and paying for food

Kinda describing Neal Schon w/o Journey for everyone has his/her crutches to lean on.

Yeah because Neal Schon was just sitting idle and couldn't find work before Journey reformed in the late 90s. Lets see - Bad English, Hardline, Paul Rogers touring guitarist, Abraxas Pool, Solo Albums, etc. Yeah, what a talentless tool.

"Did six solos, but Journey is his bread and butter even to the point of hiring a series of Steve Perry sound-alikes to keep the franchise alive and profitable." 4/2010 Neal Schon's Solo Tour

Yeah! Randy certainly is not a "talentless tool."

I agree with you here. J Lo has the prettiest grill....fat ass, but she is cute in her own way.

Steven Tyler looks like an older woman...sorry, but dude looks like a lady. Put him, Robert Plant and David Coverdale together and you get the Golden Girls, ver 2.0.

Thought last night's show was just as good as the first!
But I can really do without all the "feel good, tear-jerking"
moments with some of the contestants!

This is the first time I have ever wanted to see more of the three
judges interacting and less of the contestants :?

And I, too, can't believe how many folks gush over J-Lo
while Steven-Fucking-Tyler is sitting RIGHT THRERE

That's because a vast majority of the contestants are sugar-pop singers, rather than rock singers. Chris Daughtry is really the only singer to ever come out of that show that I like.

I liked the new judges.
Tyler is just fascinating to watch.
Jennifer is just so stunning, and she seems like a sincerely nice person.

I liked how they knew all the songs and joined in on some. That was fun.

Simon Cowell's musical knowledge is very limited. He's just a money man. Not a music lover. And I hate that about him. A man who has so much power over what music we get to hear should have music in his soul. He doesn't and that sucks.

I am already sick of the sob stories though. Just let them sing. Don't feed us all that crap. Judge them on their singing not their life stories.

The voice I liked the best so far was the kid who sang "Yesterday." Nice tone.

Normally agree, but the last guy tonight, WOW! Has a great voice and quite the story. Could tell it really affected Tyler.

I really like Tyler on this, think I'm going to enjoy watching it.....he's entertaining, funny and knows what he's talking about. LOL, one of the rock singers trying out whose had a crush on him for years. he made her sing a little of Dream On and she told him she could do the part at the end so he did end part.............damn he's still got some pipes there.

I liked it better when people made it in the business because of talent and not hype. I think the music business today is more about looking the part, than actual talent. It makes me mad when groups that are tried and true cannot get the radio stations to play their new work the way it used to. It is too much a lookie and Millie Vanilla cookie cutter racket. Also limiting the age of singers is a crock too. I want people like Susie P and Nora, and Jim to have a chance at the apple pie! The way it is supposed to be.

Amen.

I did, however, find myself standing in there watching it a bit with Debbie and Neelee. Tyler and Lopez bring some knowledge to the table, and that, as was said earlier, is a very good thing.

Tyler is REALLY a nice guy from what I hear. A close family member works at Sea World for a show. After Tyler saw the show, he wanted to go back stage and meet the employees. He sat at a picnic table with them and talked for over an hour. Just chit chat. My family member wasn't even a fan of Aerosmith at all, but thought he was one of the coolest people "famous" people he ever met. Just down to earth and nice. Between working at disney and now sea world he has met more than a few too!

Anyone still watching?

I am curious to know if the show has fallen drastically in the ratings now that S.Cowell isn't involved? Or has his leaving made no difference?

I don't miss him one bit.

No stand out voices yet for me, but I am looking forward to the live shows this week so I can judge for myself on a whole live performance.
But from the tidbits we have seen/heard so far,
I do think that guy with the Double Bass - Casey, I think - is interesting. He's quite eccentric and fun. Seems to really FEEL his music.
And a girl, I think her name was Karen? sang beautifully in the final solo performance before the judges chose the 24. She had on a long black evening gown.

And, then, I hadn't really noticed Paul or Kendra until they sang together on The Beatles' "Blackbird." I thought they sounded lovely on that. In fact, I think they should forget about trying to win Idol individually and team up right now.

But because he was so mean to JC, I think Clint must be voted off forthwith. I don't care that he can sing really well. He was mean to a little fat kid who can also sing. And I want him punished!!!!!

Also, J-Lo's tears when the sob story guy with the girlfriend in a wheelchair had to go home seemed very heartfelt. So I wonder if she will do something discreetly to help him out?

That would be nice.

I also wondered, if Tyler's presence this year will encourage more rock singers to audition in future.

That would be nice, too.

Yep, still watching. Hope more rock singers audition too. Love Tyler on AI, funnier and more knowledgable than I thought he would be, can't say I miss Simon much.

I was surprised Chris Medina wasn't in the top 24. His story aside, I think he's a very soulful singer, really liked his voice. A couple of the other guys they kept over him, I was like what the heck are they thinking?! :?

Am I really mean for being pleased that Clint didn't go through to the final ten or get a wildcard chance?

Ok, so I am mean.

That was payback for making JC so upset.

I'm going with first impressions. Ashton, if she gets into the Ross mode and Scotty if he takes on Eddy Arnold or Jim Reeves.

We don't get it until Thursday or Friday night.

I need to see them all one more time before I pick some favourites.

Not a country fan, but Scotty is amazing and such a nice kid (and only 16  ). He's going to have a country music career regardless what happens on AI. I like Casey Abrams too - talented, funny, different.

Susie P - it airs Wednesday (performance night) and Thursday (results).

Not a country fan, but Scotty is amazing and such a nice kid (and only 16  ). He's going to have a country music career regardless what happens on AI. I like Casey Abrams too - talented, funny, different.

Susie P - it airs Wednesday (performance night) and Thursday (results).

Thank you.
We get the performance night Thursday and Results Friday, so not too far behind.

Casey is really eccentric.
I like him.
