Going by that logic, froyline has probably preordered enough copies to make it go platinum.

It seems they really are grasping at straws now, doing re-records of Damn Yankee songs. This seems to put the nail in the coffin for anything new and creative from this band. I cannot believe that they couldn't stick to Styx material based on the catalog they have.

STYX come on already. High Enough?? and Coming of Age??? Why?
As huge a fan I am of Damn Yankees, this makes ZERO sense. Tommy, if you wanna do Damn Yankees stuff, get back together with them and release the 3rd album that never came out. Have Styx take a year off to come up with new material...

I had a chance to see Styx and Yes. I actually turned it down because the band is doing nothing new. Never thought I'd see the day when I'd do that.

Major Disappointment.

At least Journey's got something new coming out. Just spent $400 on tickets for my family yesterday. Styx, that dough coulda been yours.

Boy, Regeneration Vol. 2 really looks like a Tommy Shaw driven project. I'm not gonna put them down for doing this, I'm sure they have their reasons. But Damn Yankees songs don't make a whole lotta sense when they have an enormous catalogue of their own to choose from. I mean I like Coming of Age, but didn't expect this. Oh well, in the end... I will still buy it.

I thought I posted this, but it doesn't seem to have posted...

I don't look at Journey as a cover band. For one thing, they are creating NEW music that I like. As for the old stuff- I saw Perry with them many times and have heard the old catalog over and over at many shows. I don't need to hear the old songs again live. But I do dig the new stuff and think Arnel is a MAJOR find for that band. He's a great singer. Some people whine about every nuance of his accent. Doesn't bother me. I think he's good for Journey especially since Perry chooses or can't work. Good for them for keeping on with Journey.

Yeah, a bit confusing. But I have a questions for you Babyblue... were you a Gowan fan before a Styx fan, a Styx fan because of the addition of Gowan or a Styx fan whose allegiance was further solidified once you heard him in the band? I do agree with not being impressed with Journey and their youtube vocalist.

But I have a questions for you Babyblue... were you a Gowan fan before a Styx fan, a Styx fan because of the addition of Gowan or a Styx fan whose allegiance was further solidified once you heard him in the band? I do agree with not being impressed with Journey and their youtube vocalist.

No loved Styx frist and always will.I did not know anything about LG,till last year but have been enjoying his solo stuff he is amazing. He does sound just a little like DDY my feelings only because i will hear about it.  I don't care about the new kid in unjourney.Hope that heped you

I guess Styx finally realized that a call from Wal-Mart for a re-recorded Greatest hits package was never going to happen.

... AND NOTHING NEW.

Boy you must really like unjourney

Coming from someone who obsesses over Lawrence Gowan and unStyx? wtf

Wow BB no offense but I think you need to get a hearing test. Their voices are much different from each other.

The only other thing I can think of - they've exhausted songs in which they don't want to have to pay Dennis a cut - so now they are going to DY songs because rest of the JY/Tommy material is so weak.

Wish all you want you will never see it. As long as people keep paying to see and hear the same old stuff they will do that till the cows come home. It's just a business and a paycheck. It's got nothing to do with wanting to be creative or throw a bone to the die hards who follow them blindly.

Hey Guys,
I do realize Gowan doesn't sound exactly like DDY, but their voices are still quite similar in my opinion. I think he sounds great doing DDYs songs. I'm glad they found someone that can sing these songs without creeping me out. This way I am able to hear Styx live today. And since DY are gone, I don't mind Styx recording 2 Songs from them. Regarding new songs, difference in the world was a good track, wasn't it? Doesn't that count as new material and if no, why?

The first impression of hearing Gowan sing DDY's songs was he sounded like Dennis had too much helium, or that it was the Chipmunks doing Styx. Now I hear no resemblance at all, isn't that what Styx wanted? Someone who didn't sound like their original lead singer unlike Journey who has Arnel that sounds a lot like Steve Perry? I'm sure Gowan's a talented musician and and a popular guy in Canada, but that's a stretch to compare him to DDY who is a much better singer :?
