I really want Dennis to start singing this again. I actually like it better than Babe and Don't Let It End. I think the only reason it didn't get the attention and success of those two songs is that it was released after Styx's prime. But damn, what a gem. So catchy, not quite as cheesy as Babe or Don't Let It End (which I love, by the way) Great vocals too; Dennis actually sounds better than he did in the hey day; his voice just keeps getting better.

I hadn't watched this one in awhile. They made some nice videos from that album, "Show me the Way" being the standout, IMO.

This has always been one of my fave ballads from them and I agree, his voice for this song was top notch. His singing really did get better in the 80's and early 90's. Much more depth and range.

As to Don't Let It End. Not one of my favorite DDY ballads until I heard the acoustic version he is doing now and it has changed that song completely. That is how it should have always been performed.

Oh. And I liked how all of them looked in this video, too.

Agree. Underrated tune. Also has a legacy in that it was the last Styx song to hit the 40 peaking at #25 spring of 1991, 20 years ago! Its been 20 years since Styx has been on the too single charts......wow.

It's a pretty decent song, but it doesn't really "sound" like Styx. That being said, I do like the song. An interesting note that JY is credited as a co-writer on the type of song you'd think he'd be against.

It is, in fact, his highest chart position as a writer. Which really is kind of funny.

For me personally, I think this song is kinda run-of-the-mill, along with most of EOTC. It's very well-crafted, but empty at the center in my view. It's really nothing more than a song Glen wrote in response to A&M trying to get Styx to play a Diane Warren ballad. It's a crafted single rather than a song inspired by anything anyone believed in. It's neither bad nor good . . . again, like most of EOTC. It sounds like Styx, but really isn't.

I have to disagree about both "Lonely People" and especially "Nothing Ever Goes as Planned." I thought those were two great songs that showed Dennis really stretching and growing as a writer. I can understand how they might have seemed like a step away from what people knew him for, but that's kinda what I liked about them.

I've tried to get into those songs, but they just don't catch my ear. I am all for stretching the boundaries and trying new things. For instance, Cornerstone is one of my favorites though it seems to not be a fan favorite. Why Me at first was a song that I didn't like, but after giving it a chance I have grown to see what a great song it is. What's great is that all of us fans see genius in all different songs.

Agree. What makes Paradise so strong are the non hit songs. LP, NEGAP, even HPTP are strong. You always hear about the "Big 3" off that album TBOT, TMTOMH, and RTP, but some of the more obscure tracks kick major butt. And the tying of the album together with the AD melody is brilliant. The one song I might skip on that album these days would be Snowblind. Because the current lineup (read JY) has tried to force it down our throats for so long. They seem to think it was a much bigger song than it actually was. HPTP blows it away as JY's best track on the LP (and the instrumental segue into AD1958 is awesome.)
