I think the only reason it didn't get the attention and success of those two songs is that it was released after Styx's prime. But damn, what a gem. So catchy, not quite as cheesy as Babe or Don't Let It End (which I love, by the way) Great vocals too; Dennis actually sounds better than he did in the hey day; his voice just keeps getting better.

It didn't get any attention because it is a very mediocre ballad.

You're very mediocre...

Maybe Dennis was trying to capture that vibe Tommy had with She Cares.
Baron Von Bielski wrote:It's a pretty decent song, but it doesn't really "sound" like Styx. That being said, I do like the song. An interesting note that JY is credited as a co-writer on the type of song you'd think he'd be against.

Well, he didn't catch the 'vibe' of "She Cares'....but he wrote just as mediocre of a song. There is nothing special about either one.

I like She Cares for the most part. It doesn't suck. What's ironic is that their supposed biggest album is nowhere near their best IMO. 2 of Dennis' songs are clunkers in Lonely People and NEGAP... though he has two great ones with RTP and TBoT. And Tommy seems absent from the album.

Tommy was going through a lot at the time. I don't think "She Cares" is terrible, personally. But I do think it's the weakest track on that album.
I have to disagree about both "Lonely People" and especially "Nothing Ever Goes as Planned." I thought those were two great songs that showed Dennis really stretching and growing as a writer. I can understand how they might have seemed like a step away from what people knew him for, but that's kinda what I liked about them.
