not sure that I understand his statement about not knowing where the masters are. Didn't they do an extended version of Man In The Wilderness a few years ago? That would have required a master.

Shaw is full of shit. There is no way that anyone would have lost the masters to albums that have sold over 20 million copies. That is utterly ridiculous.

What it really means is they don't want to give them the masters to fuk them up. They have fukd up everything else so why not the masters. I would not let them have em either,

A&M/Polygram/Universal will have ownership of the master sound recordings for most of those albums. They are not going to "misplace" them.

You don't know what the hell you are talking about...as always. Anything to get a dig in at Shaw because your hero is no longer in Styx. He blew it for himself...blame him.

Wow. I don't see Dennis mentioned anywhere

Just because TS doesn't know where the masters are does not mean they are lost. Someone from A&M has them. The band or DDY do not own them.

Fair enough... but didn't Tommy have a hand in the extended version of Man In The Wilderness?

If so - then he's seen those masters sometime in the last 4 or 5 years.

Guess it doesn't matter. Owned by A&M or whoever owns A&M these days. These days those masters are like internet domain names. It's cheaper for the record company to hold on to them than it would be to license or sell unless someone offered the moon.

I wouldn't want anyone to mess with the masters. I like them just the way they are. That's what I grew up listening to.

Also I am sure A&M\UNI are aware of the Regeneration recordings and know exactly why they are doing them. So I doubt they would lend the masters they have to the band at all.

All he has to do is go over to his 6TH wifes house and look in her bedroom closet. They are in there on the floor next to his orthodontic retainer & the boxing gloves from their Main Event promo shots.

I'm sure that if Styx had access to the masters, they would destroy them.

Or maybe they would strip out Dennis' vocal parts and insert Larry's in it's place. Then they would release a special edition box set titled "Styx: The Way It Should Have Been". :D

If you want to blame anyone, blame your hero Tommy Shaw. He gets himself into these messes with his blatant distortions of the truth. The fact of the matter is anyone who believes what Shaw says is completely naive and doesn't understand addicts. Addicts lie. Shaw is an addict and Shaw has been caught on numerous occasions not being forthright with the truth. This is just the latest. Is he really crazy enough to think that people will believe that a huge recording company would just LOSE the masters of one of the biggest bands of its era? I don't think so....He is looking for any excuse to sell that they aren't doing this to put a few more dollars in their pockets. Anyone who buys this load of crap is completely hopeless....

Let's not kid our selves here.
I think the truth of Tommy's 'problems' with addiction, stems from having to sing 'Light up'
at the beginning of his career with Styx. That song ,as you say, gloryfies drugs. And who wrote that song?
There you have it,the fault must be with the author of that song.

Tommy I forgive you if you are not remembering the 'truth',as toph would like to hear it.

With that in mind ipso facto, you may wanna remove that Thomas the tank engine tape from you car.
It's got 'The caboose song' on it.Of course the word booze gets repeated ad nauseam, and may lead to alcoholism.
After a couple of plays my 6 year old asked for a rum and coke.
Jesus loves you ,but everybody else thinks you're a knob.
