Not in this order ....

Grand Illusion
Angry Young man
Blue Collar Man
Miss America
Come Sail Away
Renegade
Too Much Time on My Hands
Lady

Thanks for this, I hate these triple bills because it never gives them enough time.

Journey had plenty of time

Have this tour in the US and journey would have 45 minutes

Not even close. Styx would at best be playing where Foreigner is for an hour and Journey would still get 90 minutes. Perspective: Journey alone sold out the Darien Lake Performing Arts Center in 2009 (Roughly 22k people) Styx alone couldn't even sell out the Warner Theatre in Erie on the GI/Po8 tour (2,250 seats)

Does it really matter at this point 12 years non stop killing the brand. The fact that they played for only 45 min is enough to show they are done

12 years...wow....DDY did it in one day by putting his wife on stage!

Doubt it....Suzanne prolly sings Styx songs better than Gowan

...and Gowan doesn't have a romance novel he needed Dennis to sell...And, Styx doesn't have Finesse hair care products as their sponsor.

...and Dennis didn't partner with a coffee co. to peddle a coffee flavor named after him....And Dennis didn't have to join a successful band for people to know who he is...And Dennis doesn't have to avoid singing certain songs because he can't pull it off.

That is the best you can come up with? 'Finesse' was everywhere at the DDY concert I saw. The halftime break was highlighted by a lame Finesse comm/rcial. "Dennis DeYoung and the music of Styx, brought to you by Finesse" was how it was advertised. Then there were the romance novels being sold before/after the show...It was seriously embarrassing...Good thing the venue was only half filled or even more people would think his wife has the balls in the family. It was just so gay.

I am just pointing out that both Dennis and Styx have done some odd things. The coffee thing is lame. Who the fuck cares about a coffee brand called Styx? In Dennis' case at least it wasn't him peddling hair products with his name on it. The romance novel thing was a joke. BTW, Dennis is not the gay one from Styx that would be Chuck P..

So what. Every band out there does things like the coffee thing. Journey has sold soap, wine, and incense.

But, not many 'rock' acts are sponsored by things like Finess. Budweiser, sure...but something as gay as shampoo and conditioner. And, you don't go to the Styx concert and see ads for Styx coffee all over the venue....LOL. If you weren't watching the msg forums and such, you wouldn't even know about Styx coffee...But, if you went to a DDY concert back then, you certainly knew about Finesse....it was shoved in your face as much as any sponsor of a show would want it to be.

All bickering aside, Styx still should be the 2nd band performing. Not some opening 45 min set like it's 1975 at the Winterland. Foreigner is a joke. It's the Mick Jones band singing Foreigner songs. I don't care how great they are. I doubt they're as great as Foreigner with Lou Gramm in the 70's and early 80's. One original member... a guitarist, lame. Founder or not... it's silly. At least with Styx you get 50% of the songs you know and love sung by the original singer/songwriter in Tommy Shaw. Not to mention if you happen to like Miss America or Snowblind you get to hear originals on those as well. Now I do admit hearing some of the DDY penned songs performed by someone else is rough, but that's all you get from the 2 others bands on the bill... a replacement singing the songs you love. I'll give Journey a pass due to it being their tour and because Neal Schon is excellent, but not with Foreigner. They should be opening. If Lou Gramm were singing, that turns them into the headliner. Their first four albums sold 5 million copies or more a piece with their fifth going triple platinum and the sixth single platinum. Their 1982 greatest hits package "Records" sold 7 million and two other hits collections have sold 2 million and one million respectively. That's impressive, but it's not the same band. Styx better be getting paid a lot to look ridiculous.

"The whole thing is stupid."

I have to agree. No Dennis DeYoung, No Lou Gramm and No Steve Perry.
So you get 3 bands with 3 cover-singers. No thanks.

Foreigner plays all their hits in concert. Styx conveniently ignores over half their Greatest Hits album out of a pathetic squabble....

So you are hearing many more hits with Foreigner than Styx....If Styx gets more than 45 minutes, they can't fill that space with recognizable songs....you won't get BOT, Babe, DLIE, Roboto, SMB, SMTW.....etc. etc.

Styx has never sold more than 3 million for any album, so if album sales are any indication of band strength, they come in a distant third out of those three bands.

Wrong - The Grand Illusion & Paradise Theatre have both sold over 5 million albums with Pieces Of Eight being above 4 million. Cornerstone is well above 3 million, with Greatest Hits and Kilroy both above 2 million.

Even though many bands do it doesn't mean it's not lame. It's not proof that the idea isn't stupid and is aimed at the "I'll buy anything with my favorite bands name on it" fan. I am not defending DDY partnering with Finess. I thought that was weired. If you go to stynxworld.com oops, I meant styxworld.com they have the coffee advertised right at the top of the home page. So, you don"t have to read forums or blogs to know about it. The band is promoting it. Personally, I could care less who sponsors an event. That is not why I am there in the first place. I don't even pay attention to that stuff.

I think that this is just reality and shows where Styx is in the pecking order of classic rock acts. In general they should feel lucky that anyone wants to come and see them at this point. Sometimes these things are a tough pill to swallow for the more then just a casual fan. It is what it is.

Kind of a shame that Styx is playing the exact same setlist they played on their 2007 Deep Purple/Thin Lizzy tour in Europe. Obviously it didn't win them a ton of fans- Should at least do Man In The Wilderness....It sounds like something the Europeans would eat up. Castle Walls too.

I think it is also the same setlist they did in the US the same when they were the first act on a 3 band bill with REO and Def Leppard. Hopefully, they will get a little more time on the upcoming US tour with Yes.

45 min is not enough time to do anything obscure... they have to play hits and only hits so the casual attendee is familiar with the songs.

So I guess you'd rather have an alcoholic and aids patient on drums and bass who can barely even play?

I think it is also the same setlist they did in the US the same when they were the first act on a 3 band bill with REO and Def Leppard. Hopefully, they will get a little more time on the upcoming US tour with Yes.[/q

Do you really want more of this act? Im mean really 12 years of the same crap Gowan running around chasing his spinning keyboards WOOO what a showman. How many more shows do you need to see with this lineup? Same setlist same awful vocals of Gowan a hippie on bass and bombastic drummer, No chemistry at all with this band AT ALL

I wouldn't be so concerned about it at this point. I think that they have maybe two years of life left doing the concert circuit. They have been doing this to death for the past 12 years. Their popularity now among the classic rock acts is far less then the bands they are doing these multiple bill concerts. The pecking order on these concerts just shows you that.

So I guess you'd rather have an alcoholic and aids patient on drums and bass who can barely even play?

You are an ass

....and froy has been saying this for the past 11 years. They will be able to tour as long as they want to. You may as well get over it.

There's nothing about them touring that I need to get over. It's just my opinion that their touring stint is going to run out of gas.
