Froy good buddy you should know they use half the arena for concerts. Idk where you get the 6k from that would probably be for a basketball game most likely. One more thing spell my name right fucker 8)

What place ever uses only half of an arena for a concert? And even if they did only use half of the arena, that's 3,000 seats and they sold 1,100. No where near sold out. Filled to about 30%. But, I'm sure that they used ~75% of the arena just like any other arena does, which means that there were 4,500 seats available and only 1,100 tickets were sold. Pathetic. How is that crammed up to the rafters?

Assembly hall in champaign illinois is on the univerisity of illinois campus. It holds the fighting illini(?) basketball team there among others which would probably get about 6k. They use half the arena for concerts (don't ask me why). There were alot more then 1,100 there that's just froy's magical number that he likes to use.

That is correct I can't stand that Tommy Shaw ripped off the name Styx and has burned the name to the ground.

So, JY is completely innocent and shares no responsibility? You do know that it's JY that keeps DDY out of Styx. As far as Tommy goes, someone has to lead the band... JY is no leader, he is a follower. We all know that. You can't in good sense put it all on Tommy.

As far as JY goes, he is a good business man. So he can be a leader when it comes to business dealings. He is weak when comes to the chops and ability to write material that will sell records. He can certainly collaborate with other musicians and artists but the stuff he comes up with usually needs A LOT of work by the others to make it something useful. If you need some examples just listen to any of his solo albums. That will make my point abundantly clear.

Irwin M Fletcher wrote:i prefer STYX with DDY but i can live with them the way they are just now. as much as i adore the Panozzo brothers, theres no mistaking that Todd and Ricky are far superior musicians! as for Lawrence, well, i enjoyed watching him play and sing, its just that DDY does it better AND he wrote those songs :D

Your comments about the John and Chuck may be right. When Styx gained it's success and was putting out better quality material, Dennis didn't replace either of them. But, when the shoe was on the other foot Chuck bascially stabs Dennis in the back. Nice to know that your family relations have your back.

Why would they fire anybody else but Gowan? Chuck is only part time so they need a bass player. I have been open and honest about who I would like to see again as bassist. If Chuck can only perform on a limited basis... the logical choice is Glen. DDY had to be in on hiring Todd back in the day so I don't see why they'd fire their only ever drummer besides John. Honestly though, as long as Dennis were back in the band... I don't care who they use for bass and drums as long as they carry their weight. I understand the need to hire a keyboard player when Dennis was let go, but they should have found someone who could at least sing in the same key as Dennis. A lot of songs really suffer without Dennis' background vocals. For example... on Regeneration, Sing For the Day... the chorus doesn't really blend together like the original. Lawrence and Tommy are too close to the same key at times. That's why the classic lineup worked so well vocally. Their three voices complemented each others and the harmonies were perfect. Unfortunately now they don't, but that's not all Gowan's fault. JY's voice isn't what it once was.

My point is a clean sweep is in order, Chuck is fine he is just keeping his name out front as one of the founders, He can play bass full time.
Todd will need to move on a new sound is needed at the drums. The 4 core back in and Steve Smith on drums that would be a nice PR ,
A new cd and off they go .

Steve Smith wouldn't have anything to do in Styx. If you were to make a comparison between drummers:
John Panozzo and Steve Smith, Steve is a monster compared to John. John was great, but Smith is way more drummer than Styx needs.
Still don't get the ToddHate.

This thread surely got derailed

Todd's a cool guy. I met him back in November. He chatted for a while and signed my set list.

It did, but most do and all end up with many disagreements. In response to Froy: if Chuck can and will play bass full time then he would be my first choice. A new studio CD with the four core members back would be a must. If they would all just agree with on a democratic approach with Dennis in the leadership role. He knows what it takes to make a true Styx album. I am not saying he gets full control, but his leadership is needed.

That's what it was like when they booted Dennis out of the band. They had equal votes and for whatever reason they let Dennis be the lead. It seems that someone else wanted to be leader and they felt the only way to do that was to force him out. After all, if they were not operating under a democratic approach then how in the hell do you think they could force Dennis out in the first place. If it was a total dictatorship by Dennis then the others wouldn't have had the voting power to squeeze him out.

These type of threads always get derailed, which is sad! No wonder hardly anyone posts here anymore, too much bashing.

I met Todd and talked to him for a while a few months ago. I thought it was wonderful he took the time out to talk to me and my kids.
