being in Scotland, ive never seen Survivor or even seen anyone from the band solo, etc, so who has seen the guys live? with Bickler, Jamison or even that new dude McCauley? to be honest, as much as i love FS, i think id rather see JJ with his own band if i had the choice. JJ is playing the firefest festival in England in oct and im thinkin bout goin cause i dont think i'll ever see Survivor now.

I've seen them live with Jamison and with McCauley. It's always weird seeing a band without the original signer of the songs. I always thought Jamison, while having a great voice, never sang the older Bickler songs with the same rawness. Now we've got another singer singing both Bickler and Jamison songs and so it's even further removed from the sound you want to hear. That's why I'm looking forward to the new music so there's no other singer to get in the way of McCauley, who I know is talented in his own right, and his vocals.

Overall, though Survivor is my favorite band, they are not my favorite live band. Their sets are way too short and Frankie's jam sessions take up too much time for such short sets. Now, you've only got two original members which most would argue means you are dealing with a new band, not Survivor. I'll listen, nonetheless. I hear more Survivor in Frankie's music than I do in Jamison's or Peterik's solo stuff, so I'm still in Frankie's corner if only one of them gets to use the name Survivor.

only once just after Jamison re-joined in 2000. Not the best show, even though the setlist was pretty good with quite a few Too Hot to Sleep tracks. Survivor never seemed to come down to this area. No real interest in seeing the current incarnation of the band, although I'd see Jamison or Bickler if they were playing within reasonable driving distance.

I've seen them with Jamison in the 80's, Bickler in the 90's, twice with Jamison in the 90's and Jamison in the '00's...

The show with Bickler was by far the best, but I loved the setlist for that one....The 80's show was great of course and Jamison show's for the second stint were hit and miss...after Bickler was ousted for the second time, it seemed like FS started the 30 mim "jam sessions"....i even heard a crowd boo him once, because it went on so long...

I'd rather see Dave, JB or JJ now than McSurvivor....just not the same for me...

I went to my first Survivor concert in 1987 on the When Seconds Count tour. That was, of course, with Jamison, Sullivan, Peterik, Droubay and Ellis in the band.

In the 1990's I saw Survivor with the lineup of Bickler, Sullivan, Peterik, Woodring and Syniar 3 times.

In the late 1990's I saw Survivor with the lineup of Bickler, Sullivan, Droubay, Ellis and Grove 2 times.

In the early 2000's I saw Survivor with the lineup of Jamison, Sullivan, Droubay, Grove and either Ozello or Dunaway on bass 5 times.

I've seen Survivor with MCauley, Sullivan, Droubay, Grove and Ozello 1 time. But I hope to be seeing the current lineup of the band in about 3 weeks from now.

I saw Jamison with his band that he was calling Survivor probably around 12 to 15 times back in the 1990's.

I saw Peterik with the Ides Of March 1 time.

That's the only version I ever saw. I didn't realize what was going on-- I just read that Survivor would be performing at a place not too far from me, so I made the trip over there, and watched the show. For the first couple of songs, I kept thinking, "These people look totally different than they do on CD sleeve photos."

The show was ok, but nothing great. They started an hour late, and when they finally did start the show, JJ's mic didn't work, so nobody could hear any lead vocals on the first song ("Caught In The Game").

So they had to stop after the first song and try to find a new mic for JJ, which delayed things again.

Then they came back, played a few Survivor songs, as well as one or two songs from JJ's solo album, "When Love Comes Down." All of that was okay.

But then they covered a couple of songs by The Doors, which was annoying since I wanted to see Survivor, and now I was watching a Survivor cover band playing songs by a different band.

Then, just in case they didn't annoy us enough, they went into a very long drum solo (because, hey, who doesn't love a prolonged drum solo?)

Finally, they got back to playing Survivor songs, so it ended on a positive note.

Yeah. The first time I saw Jamison's solo band I thought I was going to a Survivor show because that was how his band was being billed. I live in Cleveland, Ohio, and I had heard that Survivor was playing in Dayton, Ohio. Three friends of mine and myself drove down to Dayton for the show.
When we got to the venue, which was a small nightclub, we saw a photo hanging there of Jamison and his four other band members, and we were like "Who the hell are these guys in the photo with Jamison?" Before the show started we met Jamison's drummer, Bill Marshall, and he filled us in on it being Jamison's solo band going by the name "Survivor."

I got to meet Jimi for the first time that night. After that he used to give me backstage passes, and tell me I could hangout with him and his band whenever I was at one of their shows. They were always really cool to hangout with.
