A&M albums in pairs?

Postby Toph » Tue Jun 28, 2011 4:02 am

Notice how Styx albums tend to get paired together?

Equinox and Crystal Ball
GI and Po8

Would Cornerstone and Paradise be a pair?

How about Kilroy and Edge?

I would say you could pair Cornerstone and Paradise as "lighter" sounding Styx albums (even though Paradise really just has one ballad), but Kilroy and Edge are different enough that they kind of stand on their own.

8 original A&M recordings. Was that the initial deal that they signed way back in 1975?

Or you could pair Kilroy and Edge as Styx albums that really suck. Certainly not MY favorites.

GI and Po8 are the most alike and very much on my favorites list.

But Equinox is far superior to Crystal Ball and still is my very favorite Styx album.

Congratulations! You're still the same.

IMHO, Equinox is one of the best albums they ever made.

Ironically, its one that Tommy Shaw had nothing to do with.....

Are we saying Styx would have been better without Tommy Shaw?

I am not saying that at all. The addition of Shaw to the band certainly helped the band and seemed to "round things out". I would say that their rise to fame was not solely based on Tommy himself. It was the combination of all three of them that did it.
