Styx vulgarity?

Postby Archetype » Fri Jun 24, 2011 8:19 am

This is an excerpt from a Classic Rock's Main Event tour review

Styx, who once again had the honor of being the opening band, played for nearly an hour and fifteen minutes. Which might I add was pour torture to me. The band put on a very energetic set for the crowd. Besides the fact that I despise Styx more than any other band in history, the only problem I had with the band was their bad language. I am only an 18 year old, and trust me, I frequently use many of the same words used on stage during Styx's set, but what was the need? There was no need for a band like Styx to use the word f**k several times at a concert like this. I noticed many families and younger children at the show. They didn't need words like that to have a good time. It just seemed totally pointless.

I don't remember them saying anything like this. Does anyone here?

Styx has never been that type of band... never. They're not a metal band, they are a rock band... which concludes that they're audience reflects that. Families and such... and they know that. That was a stupid review and that kid is a fucking idiot.

Anyone who whines about that shit is a pussy anyway. You go to a rock concert you have to be ready to tolerate a swear word or two and some drunks. Otherwise stay home and listen to the CDs.

Dude take a pill. Styx isn't Motley Crue. I expect a bit of vulgarity but would find it disappointing if they dropped f-bomb after f-bomb.

Sometimes I lament the deterioration of our language.

When I saw them in 2001 or 2002 in Ocean Springs, MS Glen let a few F words fly o the people up in the parking garage who were watching the show, instaed of buying tickets. What confussed me the show was sold out.

Does it really matter? After all. they are not advertising their shows as "Family Friendly" or "A Show for all ages". When these type of discussions come up I get flashbacks to the 80's and the PMRC. All I can say is, Don't Tread On Me! 8)
