REUNION - STYX & DDY

Postby yogi » Wed Jul 06, 2011 12:45 am

Here is how I would go about the Styx/DDY Reunion tour.

Styx was the first band to have 4 consecutive triple platinum albums. Use this as a basis for their reunion tour. Here is what to do:

Current Styx plays the albums The Grand Illusion & Pieces of Eight in their entirety EXACTLY as the songs appear on the albums. After they perform and there is a 20 minute break DDY and his band come out and perform Cornerstone and Paradise Theatre in their entirety.

Each band would play for approximately 90 minutes. WHAT a concept & concert this would be!!!!!

It sounds great, but there might be a blood bath backstage with, perhaps, a few key instruments being broken in the process.

One could only imagine. Dennis and Larry, August and Tommy going head to head in fist a cuffs! Larry spins his keyboard and knocks Dennis off balance, in return Dennis smacks Larry in the face with his Roboto mask!

Even in 2012/2013 if this were marketed correctly they would sell out EVERY night 16,000+ venues.

4 Triple platinum albums back to back to back to back.

2 - 90 minute sets by the players of the first band in the history of rock & roll to EVER have 4 straight triple platinum albums. Each album played in its entirety.

They could pull it off. Current Styx plus DDY's current band. 4 UNBELIEVEABLE albums. What a concert it could be!!!!!

P.S. Current Styx could do one encore with Tommy & the band performing Crystal Ball. Dennis & his band could round out the concert by alternating 2 encores and chosing between Lady, Suite Madame Blue, Mr. Roboto & Show Me The Way.

WHAT A SHOW !!!!!!!!!!

You can't have Larry singing 'Come Sail Away' with Dennis in the building and you can't have August sing 'Too Much Time on My Hands' while Tommy is in the building.

Sorry Yogi, I wouldn't be able to attend this concert. I would still get queasy when current Styx sang Dennis' songs. Nothing against Gowan, I'm sure he's a great guy. But Dennis' songs are sacred to me. I was at Disneyworld 2 weeks ago and some cover band was singing "Come Sail Away" and I got queasy! The only Styx Concert I'll ever be able to attend in the future is if Dennis is in the band.
If that never happens, I'll just get my Styx Fix at Dennis' solo concerts.

I'm sorry but there is no way in hell they would be selling out 16,000 + venues every night. Adding DDY to a Styx show might add a 1000 or so to each show but even that is questionable so 4000-5000 a show maybe.

The only way DDY and current Styx get together is if there is either huge money at stake (not with this idea) or if they do something for charity. I could see a short reunion with 3 nights at the Rosemont Theater in Chicago with DDY, Burtnik, TS, JY, LG, Todd S., RP and Chuck. Record it for DVD/Blu-Ray release, CD Release and TV specials (PBS, etc.)

Does that queasiness make you lose your balance?Do you get a slight pounding behind your right eye, then makes your tongue taste of copper for a couple of hours?
You find that you have to lie down every 10-15 minutes, and you have to call in sick. You get a lose stool and you seem to go 10-15 times a day.?
Why don't you just go for the second half of the show.?
Jesus loves you ,but everybody else thinks you're a knob.

Doubt it. Dennis doesn't need the money. He was ready to hang it up when his so called band mates kicked him to the curb. Only after encouragement from I believe Tim Orchard did Dennis even ponder starting over again.

I find it interesting that quite a few on this board has been mainly saying everything was "hunky dory" in the land of Styx. But now there is all this talk about a reunion with Dennis. Hmmm......

There is NO way in one night that one band can play back to back to back to back triple platinum albums, BUT two bands could. That is why my idea is sooooooo brilliant!!!! With the two bands you get all the players performing all the songs from 4 GREAT albums from the first band to EVER have 4 consecutive triple platinum albums.

This COULD work!! If marketed correctly the ONLY sell out would be........ EVERY areana that they book(sorry Metallica, I stole your line). This could be a Sammy Hagar/David Lee Roth type of concert, that would sell out HUGE venues quickly!!!!

In the daily hearld article Gowan when asked the question so what's next for the band he said. Quote the only thing I know is we will be in Naperville playing rib fest, Sounds like he is at the end of his contract and they are not telling him about what is coming next, It's called crow fest.
