#11 Best Styx video

Postby Toph » Thu Jul 07, 2011 5:10 am

Don't shoot the messager. Got lots of airplay and was a bit unique for MTV in those days as well.

And I have to admit the part at 1:45 is pretty cool....despite looking a bit antiquated today...

Here is a perfect example of "cringe-worthy" and you don't even need the visuals. Perfect example of why they dropped this one from their set list even though it was\is one of the more popular songs in their set list.

Are you kidding me ? Is this a joke? Gowan should be fired immediately, He is the worst singer I have ever heard in my entire life.
Ok Babyblue would you like to comment on this?

Once person's cringeworthy is another person's entertainment. All in the perspective. This video is right in the wheelhouse of cheesy, 80's videos. No more. No less. The song was hugely popular as was the video.

I remember enjoying it when it came out, and look back on it with a bit of an eye-roll and a smile on my face.

Very good point. Time has a way of putting a different perspective on these videos.

What's even more of a joke is that because of the butchering Gowan gives to this song they have had to drop it from their set list. A song that was a staple in their set list and from their only #1 album.

LOL, Toph. What was the deal with ANYTHING they wore back then! The only outfit from Dennis I like from that era is in my avatar -- baseball jersey and painted on jeans. ;)
