Mmm.... God's Judgement day was supposed to be May 21. 2011 also. Guess not, since were all here posting back and forth about a band that hasn't charted or contributed anything notable in decades. I feel the same way about a reunion with DDY.

So, in reality all this material, song writing talent Gowan is supposed to have is going to waste. He is in a band that is stuck firmly in it's glory days material which gets moldier by the minute. It's blatantly obvious that Styx has no plans presently or in the future releasing new material. According to Tommy all the fans want are the "classics" (Stuff Larry had nothing to do with BTW) and that's what Styx is giving them i.e. the slew of Regurgitation rerecords. Looks like Larry is wasting quite a bit being a second rate hired gun in a band that has become utterly boring. That is unless you like to relive your youth over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over....you get the picture.

So what? They say that as they release Regens. Journey said the same thing when they released Revelation. Then they completely turned their backs on that with Eclipse....Unlike Journey, Styx has nothing to lose by doing that. Nobody really knows what Styx has in the works after the last Regen CD. In fact, I wouldn't mind if the next Regen revisited solo material and rerecorded it as Styx...Gowan has several songs I wouldn't mind hearing Styx do....plus DY (Come Again) and 7DZ.

As for Gowan's writing talent...I think you are a moron if you really believe he can't write. And, yeah, ALL of their writing talent is 'being 'wasted' in the current state of things...including Dennis who hasn't done ANYTHING since 100yrs.

I was not commenting on whether Gowan had writing talent or not. I don't really care if he does or doesn't. Couldn't agree more that they all are wasting their writing talent including Dennis. A least with Dennis he put together a full album of new stuff more recently then Styx. Not to mention the label came knocking on his door asking him to do it. I haven't seen or heard that happening with Styx since Dennis' departure. Just sayin.

You turning that point into a back handed attempt at an insult only shows your true bias and reason why trolls like you and Toph are here. It has nothing to do with decent conversation...but taking every opportunity presented to insult the band and those in it.

Both have one album of post BNW songs, not incuding BBT, and the new songs on Styx live albums. So, it's pretty much a draw in that way.

As for staying active musicaly, Tommy has done more then all the other members, inculding Dennis, combined.

Ok I read Boom's comment backwards and forwards, and I didn't catch ANY kind of backhanded insult. I agree both Dennis and the current version of Styx shouldn't waste their writing talent and stop the neverending tours :?

You have to understand that Monker wants to make things always look like a "backhanded" comment. That way Monker can justify the personal insluts Monker slings in just about every other reply. I just post my opinions about the current Styx, if you don't like it or don't care all I can say is more power to you. That said I did forget about TS' bluegrass release so he is correct on that.

Sure he's released a Blue Grass cd that sold 4000 units that was another gem. Then the never ending cover cds that sold about the same.
In 10 years he has sold about 8000 cds great job Tommy how much fun did you have making those crapolas?

It seems to me that Tommy did the bluegrass album as a personal exploration of the genre. I doubt seriously that he was doing it expecting it to go gold or platinum. Even though it may have not sold really well I believe he was given very good reviews for an artist that was making an album outside of his normal genre. As to the Regurgitation projects, that's a whole different subject.

I don't need to justify anything. If I want to insult someone, I will. Are you really that stupid?

The fact is that your 'just sayin' BS about DDY and 100yrs crap is a backhanded insult that their recordings are not sought after as DDY's. That is what it is...you being bias and insulting Styx.

You can consider my post a backhanded insult or not, I could care less. The FACT is that Dennis was not shopping OYFN to labels. The FACT is that a label approached Dennis and asked him to do it. I would say that before that he had no intention on working on a new album. I have not heard of any label that has approached Styx and asked then to record an album of new material. It is interesting that a label would approach ONE guy that was in a successful group as opposed to approaching the current version of the group that has been described as "The Best Version of Styx Ever". All you look for is openings to insult the folks that have the opposite point of view rather then sticking to discussing each others points of view. If you disagree with someone else's opinion here so be it. But your choice to act like a 5th grader on the play ground calling people trolls, idoits, stupid etc. just degrades your point of view to others.

BTW, if I was so biased about Dennis' work over his former band mates solo or otherwise, then why would I take the time to defend Tommy's choice to release his Bluegrass album in a reply to Froy's comments about it?

As for staying active musically, Tommy has done more then all the other members, including Dennis, combined.

Sure he's released a Blue Grass cd that sold 4000 units that was another gem. Then the never ending cover cds that sold about the same.
In 10 years he has sold about 8000 cds great job Tommy how much fun did you have making those crapolas?

So what? My point was, and is, that Tommy has been more expressive then every other member of Styx and DDY combined. It has nothing to do with sales.

I see. So Dennis writing songs and score for the soundtrack to 101 Dalmatians Musical isn't expressive then? Right...

Anything else BIG GUY?

Yeah - post a LINK to ALL of the latest number...instead of whatever you have hand picked.

Also, if Styx is still out selling LRB, then they still have a touring future - get over it.

568 fans are left in NM Monker 568 and you still have your head up your ass.
Why don't you hand pick some shows and prove me wrong.
Im ready to bet that the YES STYX tour will be the very last tour with Gowan and Ricky.

Get Ready Folks a Reunion tour is brewing for 2012 Gowan is Gone.

I noticed that you have now removed the revenue generated from the statistics because it hurts your argument. This show was in Santa Fe, a town of 75k. We are not talking a major city. It is a casino and I am sure they were more than happy to have the 568 in the casino which is why they have the show.

THE FACT is that 100yrs is the only album of new material that DDY has produced since the breakup. That makes him no more active then Styx. THE FACT is THAT was my point. Instead of arguing that point, which you can't because the facts won't line up for you, you argue all this CRAP about a label approaching him, etc. If DDY is so creative, where is the "101 years from Now" follow-up album. THE FACT is he is offering no more new music for fans then STyx is. THE FACT is he is doing NOTHING different then Styx. THE FACT is all the lame insults thrown at Styx for not recording, etc, can be aimed at Dennis - word for word, just replace "Styx" with "DDY". THAT is my point.

I would say that before that he had no intention on working on a new album.

Thank you for admitting I am right. I accept your appology. Idiot.

Read my reply to the post again. I said:

"A least with Dennis he put together a full album of new stuff more recently then Styx. "

My point was NOT that he has released more material then Styx. Never said that at all. At least Dennis is not going around spouting "The is the Best Performance of Styx Material Ever". If Styx feels that the current line up is superior to what was with Dennis, then I say, put you money were your mouth is and put out a current album of new material instead of lame ass rerecords of songs that evidently were not from a band that was as good as it is now.

Of course not. That would mean you would have to agree with me and tell me I was right.

Again, I accept your appology.

I saw Styx a few months ago and they were great. Going to see DDY next Friday night and expect more of the same.

Most marriages between 2 people don't last forever. Expecting groups of 4 to 7 musicians, all having egos, to stay together for 30+ years is asking an awful lot.

I'll continue to go see Styx and DDY's shows when either are in my area. Best of both worlds!

You can't do that! I mean...it's mature...it makes sense...and it's not inflammatory!

You need to lower your standards, if you want to continue here!
