At the Cliff Castle Casino AZ,they sold almost $ 2000 worth of tickets, and yet they
still go out there and play there socks of for the attendance.Awesome Styx.

They didn't do that. Froy or the source has the numbers incorrect. If you add up the attendance (1632), which is paid attendance, with just the bottom ticket ($30) it comes out to just under $50,000. BTW this casino is in the middle of freaking nowhere. North of Phoenix.

I think if DDY returned to the band, they would no longer have to play 200 shows a year just to have beer money. It's only a prediction, but I'm sure they could do a co-headlining tour with a band like Foreigner or REO and only have to do 50-60 shows to make the same $$$.

Besides, there's NO WAY that Suzanne would let DDY out of the house so long for a 200-show tour. :D

Generally, his former band mates appear to enjoy the touring aspect of the business more then he does. Which was a sticking point between them. Neather side is right or wrong but it's like trying to mix oil and water. You can't.

The more accurate term for August would be sound alike or copycat. He hasn't replaced Tommy Shaw.

Of course he is. Dennis is now doing a 'Styx" show. It has NOTHING to do with his solo music AT ALL. The entire band are Styx replacements.

To be more precise Dennis is doing shows featuring the songs he wrote while being in Styx which was the majority of his career. What's the big deal? Of course he is focusing on the songs he did with Styx and not his solo work since Styx is what he is known for. Lots of artist are known for what they have done in a popular group as opposed to their solo career. Him including a Tommy sound alike is different matter. IMHO, it's a double edge sword.

It's not a 'big deal'. But, call it what it is.

If it was all about DDY's Styx songs, he wouldn't need to have somebody perform Tommy's.

The band is his version of Styx. And, they do a Styx show.

Call it for what it is.

He is doing a show featuring the music of Styx, that's why it's billed as "Dennis DeYoung and the Music of Styx". It not labeled as "Styx the band" which of course would be fraud. I never said that he was not doing a Styx show and I also have said Styx was about all three of them (TS,JY, DDY) not just DDY.

And, don't most casino's and such pay a flat fee to the band and make it up with ticket sales and gambling? In other words - what Styx is paid at such venues has NOTHING to do with attendance?
