Which Song Would You Choose?

Postby Boomchild » Wed Jul 13, 2011 11:46 am

I think that a lot of us here have been Styx fans for years and most have had a chance to see the band (past, present and solo) perform live several times. So we have heard quite a bit of Styx' staple songs in the set list. Which of the songs in this poll would you say you have heard so many times you are kind of sick of hearing it.

I have always like it, and the CITA version is killer. But it needs to be put to rest for a while. Play Midnight Ride or something else.

I went with Snowblind. Great song, but I am over it.

It's interesting the way this is shaping up. I thought that Babe would be way in the lead over Miss America. It always seemed to me that the fans that are into the current Styx would choose Babe over any of the others. The other surprise to me is the votes for Snowblind.

Close call between -

Snowblind - way too overplayed for a song that wasn't even a hit record
Miss America - way too overplayed for a song that wasn't even a hit record
Blue Collar Man - way way way too overplayed for a song that was a mid level hit

The winner goes to shitty ass Snowblind.

Interesting that Snowblind and Babe currently have equal votes. I didn't think Snowblind would even get votes.

If you haven't voted yet, please do so.

Why not? They play it almost every show and have been doing so since 1981... and it never was even a hit. It's a good song... don't get me wrong. I am just tired of hearing it. I can't believe all the votes for Babe... complete horseshit, that song is never tiring. It's a Goddamn #1 hit for crying out loud!

Well, I like the song and sure it was their only #1 single. But for some reason I am just tired of hearing it. This doesn't mean that I now hate it. A good thing can be over done. Fro me, I have heard it enough now that it could be shelved for awhile and I wouldn't think anything less of it.

Oddly, I'm not too sick of any of them. I guess now that some time has passed, I would go with BCM studio version, but I still enjoy hearing it live. I don't hear Babe enough these days to be that tired of it anymore.

Why does Too Much Time On My Hands not have more votes? It's such a terrible song

That would have been my second choice. It's a somewhat catchy song but it's one that gets old for me too.

Miss America should win this one by a landslide...cliched music, trite obvious lyrics and a horrendous vocal performance.

It's currently in the lead that's for sure. JY has done worse though, just listen to his solo efforts. In it's live incarnation I wouldn't even call it a vocal. It's more like screaming. But if they drop it that is one less JY gets to sing lead on and he needs every song he can get people to listen too. 8)

My problem with Miss America is I have never liked the song in the first place. Easy vote for me.

Hi! Newbie here. I'm with Bugsy on this one; I have always hated Miss America; if I never had to hear it again, I'd be a happy camper.

Welcome, Cassie M. I just noticed the designation of a newbie here -- "Fresh Air". Good one, Andrew!

While sometimes that is not an accurate designation, it is nice to get some differing viewpoints here now and again.

Thanks, Bugsy! I appreciate the welcome. I have been lurking and reading prior posts for a long time now; I finally decided to join in. Should I come clad in a suit of armor to deflect slings and arrows?

Looks like Miss America is going to take the prize with Babe following behind it. For a minute there I thought Snowblind was going to come in second.
