Tommy Shaw Retract Your Statement

Well Tommy now is the time to take it all back. Let's just say it was taken out of context and the RS guy got it wrong,
Now is the time to make it right, YOUR MOVE, get it , YES Your Move,

What a fucking prick you are.

When is DDY going to stop being an asshole and take back his idiotic comment about Styx fans drinking Tommy's bathwater. That was a direct insult at FANS. And, IMO, much worse then anything Tommy, any other member of the band, has said since the breakup.

I wish this board had a "like" button......

Seriously, I wonder just who outside the few die-hards here really cares? I read the RS article, and I really don't see where any insult to DDY was perpetrated. Bottom line, the guys in the band find DDY difficult to work with, and, for the last 12 years, they have done the healthy thing and moved on. The only one who has never found DDY hard to work with is Dennis himself.

OK, fire away....

froy, you are too funny. I have NOT been sent by the band. I am simply a fan since 1977, who initially was turned on to Styx the first time I heard "Fooling Yourself" on the radio, and I've read as much as I can on them throughout the years, even back in the days before the Internet. I'm not a crazed, in-your-face type of fan; just one who enjoys the music and seeing them live whenever I can afford to.

As for statements to verify my comments, all I can say is, have you not read Sterling's book? Or Chuck's? While truly, only the band members themselves have their own perceptions and memories of what went down daily for all those years, why do you think JC left? Yes, the official party line was that he wanted to be with his family, but there have been hints dropped that he did not like the direction Dennis was leading Styx into. Tommy obviously had his issues, as did JY. Chuck has been pretty restrained in his comments, but there have been some printed lately that he is over all of it and has moved on (I don't remember if it was posted on this forum; here is the link: http://www.accessatlanta.com/atlanta-mu ... 12336.html), and has no contact with Dennis. Finally, both Todd and Glen made comments in Sterling's book that rather politely made reference to Dennis being difficult to work with. There was even a quote in The Grand Delusion along the lines of, "Dennis made so many enemies at A&M it's unreal." Really, in my prior post, I was just making an observation that sums up all I have read numerous times; I was not aware that I would have to footnote and annotate everything I say. I just find it a bit incredulous that so many people within the Styx organization have expressed pretty much similar types of dissatisfaction over the years. I think that's pretty telling, don't you?

And yes, Tommy has aged 30 years....since he was 27.

Finally, my last observation on Dennis is that he has been pretty consistent through the years in expressing his continued disbelief (for lack of a better term) that things were really all that bad. Which is fine, it's his perspective; it just doesn't match up with what many other people have said. That's all.

What's a woos?

Ask August Zadra, Jimmy Leahey, Tom Sharpe, John Blasucci, Craig Carter, and Suzanne DeYoung, his wife of 41 years, how difficult he is to work with. Dennis is an Alpha Type A personality. The rest of the guys in Styx were druggies and boozers. They couldn't handle being around someone who knew something other than those activities

There is always two sides to every story. Dennis for the most part has given less details on the matter then the others. Which is his right. It seems to me that TS, JY and DDY were all hard to work with. Their people with egos and wanting to control the direction of the band. With regards to your statement about JC's departure you need also consider that at the time of his departure he had a drinking problem that did affect things. Gee, sounds like someone else that is in the band doesn't it? It seems to me that some want to lump the whole thing on DDY and discount the fact that others had major issues that effected the way they conducted themselves when working and dealing with others in the group. As far as the current members moving on, I am not so sure I agree with that 100%. JY seems to say negative things about Dennis every chance he gets. He even goes as far as to refer to Dennis as "a former member" instead of just using Dennis' name. Each passing year it seems that they are attempting to erase Dennis from their history. From removing references to him in the history on styxworld.com to the Regeneration song retreads. Some will say the retreads are to make more money off the songs but I believe it's more then just that.
