Here's my favorite quote from the article: "Gowan curiously concedes he and DeYoung share many musical and character traits, allowing the former's fairly seamless Styx fit."
Yes, it is curious that he would "concede" any musical similarities with DDY. Laughable. OK, he plays keyboard. Has me there I suppose.

His new band kicks serious ass and is a way better Styx Show than Gowan's cover band.

The point in the article is that Dennis was that way for YEARS, toward the end of his time in Styx....and he remained that way for YEARS after. The point was NOT that this is how Dennis CURRENTLY is.
When Dennis exited the band, he was STILL hyping Hunchback, adding HB songs to BNW, and even touring with them solo. And, on his PBS tour he was hyping getting a Hunchback production on PBS. Pathetic.

Yea, I don't know any artist that hypes and promotes the projects they are working on.

Correct, a Broadway show....and a VERY OLD ONE. It was not something he was working on. It was something he had written back in what, 93/94 sometime...and was still hyping it up to 10yrs later. You mean he is such a horrible songwriter that he couldn't come up with some other song for BNW other then a Hunchback song from years ago? Again, pathetic...and is exactly what the band is saying about him being stuck in that mode and musical direction. He went from "10 On Broadway" right into Hunchback mode and didn't leave it for nearly a decade.
I posted this a while back, but I'll write it again. A long while back a friend of mine spoke with Dennis. He told her that Hunchback was the most exciting thing he had ever done. Think about that...more exciting then Grand illusion or Paradise Theater. More exciting then Kilroy. That is where his head and heart was at the time...I have no doubt about it. I also have no doubt that is part of the reason he is out of Styx.
