Great band this STYX band,,
I'm sorry Froy... but if you think this is good you should go see Styx. Styx is the real deal and this is just like a local cover band.
Oh for sure. This sounds like it's 1981 again!
I like L.G. but that is wretchedly bad.
It's a song Styx should play though, regardless. Maybe Tommy could give it a go?
Or of course you could just: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jq1CrWTtNJ8
Nah.
But they won't. The same goes for Rockin' the Paradise. They guy they hired to sing it just can't pull it off. But I gues that is what JY and Tommy consider a perfect fit.
I can almost get Tommy and JY not wanting to play Babe or Mr. Roboto, but The Best of Times is quintessential Styx and it's a crime it isn't being played. Trying to be too cool and losing the fact that they were kind of a geeky hard rock band in the 80's. Embrace it. I totally get that Tommy, JY and Dennis can't get along. But ignoring a huge part of the catalog is the one thing about the current Styx lineup I do not like.
It is being played though. You just have to see Dennis DeYoung to hear it. I would rather here him on it them someone else anyway. They have to ignore a chunk of their catalog because quite frankly, Gowan's voice isn't suited for it. Which if you are starting a new chapter with a new singer then you should focus on recording new material with that new member. They really limited themselves by choosing Gowan when it comes to performing material that was Dennis'. Which a lot of what he contributed was popular. To me that was a boneheaded move on their part.
