Is there talk of new material?

LG: There’s always talk Joe or was it Moe? (laughs Gowan) but talk is cheap and so are we their really isn't anyone in the band who can write music so we just copy the old stuff and keep playing the same songs over and over again, In fact I have my keys set on auto pilot I don't even have to do anything just chase it around in circles. So don't hold your breath. There is a precarious situation we’re in. We suck as a band but we need the money, There is an insatiable demand by Tommy's wife for the band to play basically every day of the year, She needs new shoes so she runs Tommy's ass into the ground for the cash, Have you seen a picture of him recently he's cashed needs a bath. It’s very difficult at this stage of the career that everyone’s in to ignore that. For example we just got back from England and Sweden We were the opening act for 2 other warshed up acts Foreigner and Journey, and we came back here to start this Yes tour Did you see the NY show? we drew about 1100 fans that night. Now you know why we have to tour every single day of every single year WE SUCK BIG TIME. We begin another whole run of shows in the states that we missed on this Tour. We don't even know where we are playing anymore we just want the money It’s very difficult to just simply turn our backs on that and spend six or seven or eight months in the studio making an album. Especially when we only sold 4000 cds last time around. We are not falling into that trap again, We will just keep hiding behind who ever we can to collect the 5000 bucks a week, That's just fine for now, It’s very likely we will do that at some point but I can’t promise when in fact I can't promise ever. On the other hand we just finished doing another Regeneration, Regeneration Volume 2, a fresh take on more of the Styx classics that I had nothing to do with. I got to copycat Dennis again on Queen of Spades did you hear me? Did I sound like I was choking my chicken? That’s important because there are probably at least one or two generations now that only know this incarnation of the band. About 580 or so fans is about all we have gathered in the thirteen years I have been with the group. And I still suck as bad as I did on day one, They just wanted to hear our studio versions of all these songs we’ve been playing live. Only kidding we just needed another 20 dollar piece at the merch table. That was important to tackle. Next up I'm thinking of redoing Desert Moon that would be cool.

I highly doubt that, those are only the casual fans and fans that just discovered this version of the band. It's a poor excuse to re-record songs and not put out an album of all new material :?

I got the impression from that interview that there'll be no Regen III. He would have mentioned and like he said... they wanted to rerecord the songs they do live. Done deal.

They went over so well that there was a lot of talk backstage that we gotta do Crystal Ball and Paradise Theater or we gotta do Cornerstone. I think it’s likely that at some point we will do that.

Not a chance on Cornerstone and PT seems unlikely with all the DDY songs on it. Tommy wouldn't allow it because he wouldn't sing enough. As bad as it would be to hear Gowan ruin many of those songs it would in fact earn them a bit of respect in my book by not ignoring those important albums.

Going by the times of the GI/Po8 tour, they would have plenty of time to play a set like this:

Crystal Ball
--------------------------------
Cyclorama (Glen can be a special guest on 3rd guitar)
--------------------------------
Blue Collar Man
Half -Penny, Two-Penny
Queen Of Spades
Love In The Midnight
Lady
Snowblind
Man In The Wilderness
Fooling Yourself
Suite Madame Blue
Midnight Ride
Come Sail Away
Renegade

Play a setlist to who? Their shows are averaging 500 to 800 sheep. Is it really worth it to learn anything new when under 1000 people are showing up?

No. Which we know is why they don't play it anymore except as part of a medley where they only play the opening riff.

Do you guys just make shit up because you're bored? There is NO RIFT between Glen and ANYONE in Styx, past or present. Period. Never has been, never will be.

Why don't some of you try to go outside once in awhile and experience life? Recycling the same fantastical BS not only defies logic, it's unhealthy.

FOR THE RECORD (Maybe we should put a sticky on this):

*Glen left the band because his wife wanted him to, and he wanted to make things work at home.

*Since that time, Glen works with hundreds of worthy, accomplished musicians, including, but not limited to, Dennis DeYoung, members of ELO, and Yes.

*He is a new fixture in The orchestra, and tours with them wherever they go.

*He organizes and arranges his own variety and tribute shows, as well as continues to remain active in the Jersey music scene and local charities

In short, he's a busy guy. he rarely even thinks about Styx. It was a GIG to him. he was paid well. And now he works for someone else. It really doesn't go any deeper than that.

REALLY.

That is not true. He had major issues with some of the wives in the band, particularly Jeanne Shaw.

He also did not like the fact that Kiss Your A$$ was not released as a single

He also was slighted because he only got 2 songs off Cyclorama, when Pinocchio had to have 6.

In other words, he didn't like being the 4th wheel. When he was with Styx in 1991, he was clearly #2 - in fact had as many songs as anyone on Edge and they named the album off one of his songs and released one of his songs as the first single. A far cry from how Cyclo went down.

Actually, I think he left Styx because he likes performing with Zan and spending time with her a bit more.

Love how somebody who does nothing but troll music forums knows more about Glen then someone who actually spends time with him

I am a Styx fan and DDY fan....but.............

Styx can not take the time to record a new cd of new material, but they can take the time to rerecord classics. And Larry is working on a new cd, and Tommy just made a solo cd!

Something is not right.

I am still a Styx fan, but if they are not goimadeo mCDe a cd, give the name to Dennis and let him tour as Styx and Tommy and Jy as the music of....

If DDY will not make new music with the name, stay solo and rest of the band solo too. Getting tired of this crap!!!

Keep in mind that Tommy did not "just make" his CD....He started it in 2003, worked on it slowly as his (and Brad Davis') schedule allowed, and worked on it much more during the winter of 2009 while he was off the road from Styx. So, it was a long, slow process, done when it would not interfere with his "day job."

But, I agree, new music would be nice.
Sometimes it makes no sense at all.

Ah, yeah, froyline, they just wait to get on YOUR schedule to record and release an album and hear your review of it. I'm sure everybody would be dying to know what you think of anything Styx releases.

Styx can not take the time to record a new cd of new material, but they can take the time to rerecord classics. And Larry is working on a new cd, and Tommy just made a solo cd!

Something is not right.
