"Here's More Music From Bands Tommy Shaw Has Been In"

~Which, actually, is an appropriate title, seeing as Styx milked Tommy's catalog from MS Funk and Harvest for his first two albums with the band. And why was that? Oh, yeah, Dennis had a nervous breakdown in 76 and needed psychiatric help.

"Guess Which Member Is Gay"

~This is just flat-out tasteless, classless, and homophobic. Not to mention totally unnecessary.

"The Tall Blond Guy: Why Do People Still Not Know My Name??"

~Actually, this one is quite funny. And true.[/quote]

So why are they still doing this to this day with the use of Damn Yankee songs? Who has issues now that is preventing them to write and perform original material by Styx? The band that is supposed to be the "the best version ever" with everyone writing together as a group.

Is It not true? It's not slander. As if others here have not referred to Dennis or some of his material as "gay". What is flat out tasteless is Chuck stabbing his childhood friend in the back. Dennis could have easily done the same thing to him when he became ill.

Hello McFly!! It was basically his vote that made it possible to boot Dennis from the band. Dennis was ill trying to recover when he voted to move on without him. Dennis could have replaced Chuck when he was dealing with his issues from HIV. He stabbed his friend since childhood in the back that was there in the beginning and had a lot to do with the success of the band they started together. That is stabbing someone in the back.

I'd love to know what evidence everyone has that proves Dennis was actually ill and not just being a hypochondriac and not wanting to travel, as he had done previously.

What evidence does everyone have that shows how supportive Dennis was when Chuck came out? In his own book, Chuck specifically thanks Tommy and JY for being supportive, and JY was in attendance for an AIDS banquet Chuck was at. How's this for being supportive? When the band was recording Brave New World, Dennis did not even want to credit Chuck with playing--and Chuck dragged himself to the studio with JY and laid down some tracks. How about waiting until Chuck felt better, Dennis? Everyone was always supposed to do everything according to Dennis' timetable; what about Dennis showing some flexibility?
Sometimes it makes no sense at all.

Dennis would have no need to fake an illness to avoid touring. He's the type of person that will tell you flat out where he stands or what his opinion is. Besides when the issue came up with his illness he didn't say "I do not want to tour", he asked that they delay the start of the tour so he would be in better health to do it. I just love how people twist that into he refused to tour at all. As far as evidence of Dennis being supportive about Chuck coming out there isn't evidence of Dennis of being or not being supportive. By the time of Chuck's book, the bitterness of the split had already occurred so I would not expect Chuck to go out of his way to thank Dennis for anything. During the recording of Brave New World Dennis was also dealing with his health issues but pressed on to work on the project. Did Chuck even ask for time? If you want evidence of Dennis being supportive of his band mates consider these points:

At the start of recording Equinox Dennis put up all the money to keep their equipment from being repossessed.
On Tommy's first album with Styx Dennis had Tommy featured all over it including the title of the album.
When the split occurred in '84 Dennis wanted to wait and see if Tommy would change his mind and return while the rest of the band was looking to replace Tommy and move forward. When Glen joined the band in '90 again Dennis featured the new guy on EOTC. In '97 the band was to be off but a unnamed band member asked to do some touring because they needed the money. But, that selfish Dennis agreed even though he had prior commitments. Dennis has never had a negative comment about any of his band mates. He has always said that he felt it was each and everyone of them made Styx what it was. To the best of my knowledge he never had it out to replace any of them.

While Dennis may have been strong willed, opinionated and demanding that does not mean he was not supportive of his band mates. I don't think he was an angel but, I think the issues have been overblown just to justify their own selfish reasons.

~Which, actually, is an appropriate title, seeing as Styx milked Tommy's catalog from MS Funk and Harvest for his first two albums with the band. And why was that? Oh, yeah, Dennis had a nervous breakdown in 76 and needed psychiatric help.

So why are they still doing this to this day with the use of Damn Yankee songs? Who has issues now that is preventing them to write and perform original material by Styx? The band that is supposed to be the "the best version ever" with everyone writing together as a group.

~This is just flat-out tasteless, classless, and homophobic. Not to mention totally unnecessary.

Is It not true? It's not slander. As if others here have not referred to Dennis or some of his material as "gay". What is flat out tasteless is Chuck stabbing his childhood friend in the back. Dennis could have easily done the same thing to him when he became ill.

~Actually, this one is quite funny. And true.

He will never live that one down. The guy is pretty much faceless when it comes to being associated with Styx.

What proof do havfe that Chuck, stabbed anyone in the back???????

Hello McFly!! It was basically his vote that made it possible to boot Dennis from the band. Dennis was ill trying to recover when he voted to move on without him. Dennis could have replaced Chuck when he was dealing with his issues from HIV. He stabbed his friend since childhood in the back that was there in the beginning and had a lot to do with the success of the band they started together. That is stabbing someone in the back.

Not the only place where Chuck likes to stab people....

So whats the big deal in Chuck, being gay i believe its his life not yours.
