Know what though, I was fine with it, we have been very harsh on him here, though we feel with cause.
And at least it broke from the passive/agressive approach and showed some real fire.

I wasn't offended by it, I found it funny.

If someone that I thought was a high quality person called me a prick it would insult me, and I would be mad at them for falsely accusing me of being "a prick."

If someone who is clearly a "prick" them-self calls me a prick, I just look at who's calling me that, and laugh it off.

I think that John from Boston who posts on a couple of the forums on here is one of the biggest assholes on the planet. He insults me on a regular basis. But his opinion truly means nothing to me. It's his nature to be an asshole. That's what he is on every level. So when he insults me it means nothing to me. He can't be taken seriously.

Now, if a number of you guys on the Survivor forum here on MR, that I think are cool people, were to say something bad about me, then that might mean something to me.

If Peterik or Jamison or Bickler called me a prick, I would be disappointed that they thought that about me. They are nice guys who are generally well-liked by people that know them. Since the majority of people that know Sullivan think he's an asshole, (And I know of a lot of people that think that about him) it's most likely true.

The term un-authorised is what I cant get my head around with this.Sony BMG who own the rights to these, agreed to let Rock Candy re-release these, how can that make them un-authorised? I am not an expert on a lot of this stuff but I am sure Sony have released compilations without band members knowing are these now unauthorised too?
Andrew I hope that book idea is not dead in the water I have a lot of memorabillia that could be included, take your point there needs to be a business case for doing it.

Anyone who creates anything, whether it be a piece of music, art, or even a child, feels some level of ownership of that music regardless of whether they have the legal right to publish it. A parent can lose custody of a child but still feel like the other parent releasing photos of the child to the media were 'unauthorized.' I think everyone here is looking at it in a legal term as opposed to an emotional term.

It sounds as if FS doesn't have issues with the music being re-released, as this is just part of the music business when companies own the rights, no? I think Sullivan's issue is with the liner notes, which he feels do not paint an accurate portrait of the record making process.

Thanks Richard, will let you know.

As for unauthorized, or unofficial.....both terms are pure bumkis. Rock Candy do everything officially and JP for one was involved in the liner notes process. IN FACT< when Rock Candy first got approval to do these re-issues from Sony/Scotti, they asked me for contact details for all the guys. I gave them that info, INCLUDING Frankie. So if he's not on those liner notes, he can answer why.

I'm sick of hearing this term unauthorized.

Maybe when he no longer owns the name SURVIVOR.

I finally got the Rock Candy remasters of "Vital Signs" and "Too Hot To Sleep" a few weeks back. I just ordered the Rock Candy remasters of "Caught In The Game" and 'When Seconds Count." And I hope to eventually get the RC remasters of "Survivor" and "Premonition."

I wish they had been allowed to remaster and re-release "Eye Of The Tiger" too. I'll have to eventually get either the SHM EOTT remaster, or the Mini LP remaster of it.

Any of you have a favorite booklet from any of the Rock Candy Survivor remasters based on the interviews?

See if one of you can get Rock Candy to remaster and release the two "Target" albums on CD.

Slander, just because the owns the name to McSurvivor now, does not give him one bit more of a right to commment on past albums than Peterik...That rant was about as childish as we've seen FS and that is saying something...

I mean, he might as well said..."I'm the man guys, I'm the man. Don't you know..I'm the Man! Not JP! it's me! Ron made JP leave, because he's not a good as me! Ron picked me."

Talk about a prick!

Throw in the fact that he's a proven liar and gifted distorter of facts, and we can't believe anything he says anyways...

And don't forget: "I didn't read the liner notes, and I never will, so even though I have absolutely no idea what's in them, I know that it must be all lies because they didn't ask me, and I'm the only one who ever speaks the truth."

Really? Childish? I didn't see FS take a shot at JP. I saw him praise both Nevison and JJ. All I read in that blog, was a guy who wanted to add his two cents about the making of his bands biggest album "Vital Signs." Listen, I agree with all of you that the inactivity, and "radio silence" about new music is baffling. How do you truly keep the Survivor name alive by playing 30 shows a year? Having said that, I think FS has every right to tell his side of the story. What is wrong with him blogging about his feelings, on his own website? Once again, I think we let personal feelings get in the way of being objective here.

Andrew, no disagreement here! All I'm saying is when you have ownership of something, you will defend it to the bitter end. My guess FS will always think he is the "be all" of Survivor because JP left the group. Just a thought.

I had trouble finding that, too. The only thing I can find is where Frankie talks about how Ron didn't like having extra people around, so he'd send everyone away and only keep Frankie there. I guess that could sound like, "Haha, I'm more important than those other guys! (JP included)" Though, to be honest, that wasn't how I read it. I read it more like, "Nobody else can tell you what went on during the VS sessions because I was the only one who was there the entire time."

I read it the same way, however if you already have a low opinion of FS then you will read into his comments the worst intent possible.

I asked Derek at Rock Candy about this when we were doing the Survivor campaign,it was to do with getting the rights to them that was preventing it.I also spoke to Jimi Jamison about this at Firefest last year he actually told me that a couple of Target tracks were on a southern rock compilation cd can't remember the name.He also said never say never about them coming out on cd one day,but I cant see it happenning for a while if it does.Always thought they were pretty decent albums actually.

I won't deny that my opinion of the man started low...but I can't believe I'm the only one that read it that way...It's what it said! That basically, only he knows what went on...that's his side of the story and as Andrew stated clearly, he could have given his side...

The bottom line the man was fired up af the fact that anyone might have thought JP has as much right, provideing those notes as him. Of that his point of view would not have been more important. He DOES SAY..that it's 'unofficial' or whatever, as they did not get stuff from anyone in Survivor. Come on guys! JP is a much Surivor as Frankie will EVER BE!

Does no one else see it this way?

Okay…here we go:

1. “Who knows why anyone would re-release a recording and not have anyone
from the band participate in it.”
I mean really? No one from the band? JP was not a part of the band? JJ was not? What did he want McAuley’s take on Vital Signs? Passive aggressive slap number one.

2. “the problem is they were re-written without any input from the band. History repeats itself and all
attempts to rewrite history fail. (WOW)

3. “The only other person in the room to see it all and know was yours truly. Ron had no patience
for crap so he would say what was on his mind, not always in the kindest of words, and get on with the task at hand. And when the guys were done cutting he wanted to send as many of them as possible home to have the studio and his energies left alone. To disturb Ron's energy was never a good thing. So it was the old less is more thing as far as the band members were concerned. Before I knew it he would whittle it down to just he and I.” (Can you guy really tell me this is not a slap to JP?????)

4. Or this! (“When I sent the first mix out of "I Can't Hold Back" everyone said there
wasn't enough bass. I walked into work that day and the first question
I ran into was so? I said "so what!" Ron looked at me and asked me
what the guys thought and I told him, not enough bass. Then he looked
me straight in the eye and said no more tapes go out. You figure out
what you're going to tell the guys but no more tapes. I wore out the
old "It must of got lost in the mail" excuse.” (In other words, JP was not a part of that and we wasn’t even allowed to hear the tapes. Can you tell me if you were JP and reading this, it would not anger you. I mean hear I thought he co-wrote all this material as well. Guess he wasn’t that important after all huh).
That’s enough for now…but it’s all in there…

Yeah. Even though Sullivan never names Peterik, yes he was making passive-aggressive insults toward him. He kept trying to insinuate that just because Peterik and Jamison are no-longer in the band, that they don't count as being band participation in the Rock Candy booklets. And yes, Sullivan was trying to act like Nevison viewed him as the only band member of true importance. How does Sullivan know that Nevison wasn't having one-on-one conversations with Peterik regarding the album at times?

@journey/survivor Do you think FS was referring to Kevin Chalfant here:

After a day rehearsing with a singer we all know and I will not mention in this blog, I was at the end of my rope. I spoke loudly and clearly.
