HOLY CRAP! IT'S TRUE!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3SpeW8GP ... ideo_title

While Larry certainly doesn't do it as well as Dennis, I am glad they are giving this song another try. Did he totally suck on it around 2000 when they had been performing it? YOU BET! But I think we can all agree that Larry has gotten better at singing Dennis's songs. (the Grand Illusion/Pieces of Eight tour would have been a BIG DISASTER in 2000.) This one has the dramatic, showy attitude/feel that I would think would suit Larry well. With a little work, I bet he can do it at the same level that he does all the other Dennis songs.

....Bring on the jabs from froy!

I will admit that it's better, especially better than the version on Styx World: Live 2001. It borders on the horrific, but this most latest version appears that he's singing in a lower key, instead of that high pitched yelp. I'm not saying it's good... just better.

The next thing you will be saying that it is better then Dennis' performance of the song. Nailed it is right. Nailed it to a cross and crucified it.

The fact of the matter is you went on for months about them not performing this song. Now that they do, and Gowan does a great performance of it, you still have to bitch about it.

Your wrong. I didn't bitch about them not performing this song or others from the PT album. I commented that they can't because Gowan simply doesn't have the right voice for them. You make it sound as if I want them to play those songs. I would rather they not. The point about how Gowan's performance of the song has everything to do with it. Who and what do you think people are comparing it to?

Sure he can "sing" anything Dennis can. Anyone with working vocal cords can. That doesn't mean it is going to sound right. For the most part Gowan's voice is not suited for Dennis' songs. This of course is my opinion. I'm sure you and others would disagree. Still it doesn't change my opinion.

You "commented" on it over and over and over again as a critique and insult against the band. That is bitching about it.

Gowan's voice IS good enough for that song...I've heard him sing it several times in person and there is NOTHING wrong with how he sounds in this clip. Maybe you don't like it, but those who cheered at the end of the clip sure did - and it's their opinion that really matters anyway.

YOU made it sound like you wanted them to perform those songs by virtue of your endless critique over them NOT performing them. Now you critique them when they DO perform them. NOTHING Styx does or doesn't do will ever make you happy. Your own actions prove that.

We are comparing Gowan's vocals in this video to Gowan's vocals on StyxWorld. Nobody was comparing him to Dennis. His name was only mentioned in passing, and in a complimentary way, "While Larry certainly doesn't do it as well as Dennis..." and calling them "Dennis songs". Maybe you should spend time reading the stuff you quote.

With a little work, I bet he can do it at the same level that he does all the other Dennis songs.

....Bring on the jobs from froy!

I will admit that it's better, especially better than the version on Styx World: Live 2001. It borders on the horrific, but this most latest version appears that he's singing in a lower key, instead of that high pitched yelp. I'm not saying it's good... just better.

You can polish a turd but guess what? It's still a turd.

It doesn't matter what they do - you'll bitch about it. You bitch when don't play it...you bitch when they do.

He nailed this song.

The next thing you will be saying that it is better then Dennis' performance of the song. Nailed it is right. Nailed it to a cross and crucified it.

Whatever. I don't care if he does it better then Dennis or not. Dennis does his own thing and iit has nothing to do with this.

The fact of the matter is you went on for months about them not performing this song. Now that they do, and Gowan does a great performance of it, you still have to bitch about it.

Nothing this band does or doesn't do will satisfy you. You'll always find something to attack and insult. That is the way you are.

Get it straight. When speaking about songs from PT I never said I wish they could or it's a shame they can't. I was speaking in terms that they avoid them because they didn't work for Gowan in the past. In my opinion they still don't, his voice isn't suited for them. Of course that's my opinion. Anytime you critique or comment about a artist's performance it's an opinion.

I don't care if anybody replies to me or not. For me, the purpose of writing a post (here, Facebook, or even sending somebody an Email) is for me to express something that I want to say...not to expect a reply. Boom Boom is a hypocrite and a constant mudslinger who has nothing to express except his hatred of Styx. Toph was an attention seeking troll who DID post expecting to get attention and replies. Froyline is a froyline who half the time doesn't make sense and speaks in his own version of English that has to be deciphered to understand. That's just the way it is.

As for the rest, Boom's comment of not being able to polish a turd and his past ramblings about Styx not being able to perform this song have simply been proven to be way off. They DO NOT do such a horrible job performing it. That has NOT been the reason why they were not performing it. He complained when they didn't perform it, going on and on about it....then they perform it and he still bitches and complains about it. NOTHING the band does will ever be anything other then a turd to him.

And, yeah, I think he did a great. You don't. So what? The people who cheered at the end of the song seemed to REALLY enjoy it - and it is THEIR opinion that really matters. Not yours or mine, or especially Boom boom.
