So has the game passed Belichick by? I dunno.

Maybe the game has passed by his philosophy of using bargain basement players in a system with a great QB?

As far as passing him by when it comes to brass tacks Xs and Os, I dunno... kinda doubt it.

This is a philosophy he's only adapted in the past four or five years, and it has yielded little success.

Actually, honestly....I think the bigger issue is play calling. They should totally ignore Chad. Their offense is very vanilla. No misdirection plays...no deep balls(try to get a PI call for yourself for once!) Flea flicker? Hook and Ladder? Double reverse?

In sports, you continue doing something until the other team stops it....NE has LIVED off bubble screens, dump passes, and whatnot for years....teams have caught on....time for something else.

It's a dopey question (and I know you're not the one who asked the question). Belichick deserves all the blame in the world for some of the AWFUL personnel decisions. Honestly, in spite of picking Brady in the 6th round, his track record as a GM isn't good. That alone illustrates how great of a coach he is. These Patriots teams have NEVER EVER EVER been stacked with talent. In fact, beyond Brady and Vinatieri, there won't be another Hall of Fame player on their Super Bowl teams, and it's probably the only franchise in the history of the NFL who has won multiple Super Bowls (in the same era) who you can make that statement about. I don't like this New England team, AT ALL. They have a couple of tough players, but beyond that, they're simply not built to win in the playoffs. It still doesn't diminish Belichick's run. I realize people don't like to accept it, but ALL of these runs come to an end at some point or another. Again, these Patriots teams (for me) have been remarkable. They win more than any team in the NFL and have far less talent than every other team who wins. There are way too many average and below average guys on this team. You can't keep making long runs into the playoffs with a bunch of undrafted free agents.

Law may and I actually think that he should. ZERO chance Bruschi gets into the hall without buying a ticket like the rest of us! Bruschi was an overachieving, undersized linebacker who got the most out of his ability, but definitely not a hall of famer, and I doubt he'll even get serious consideration.

I'm just enjoying the Sunday night game and enjoying two teams who actually know how to play defense. It's refreshing.

I'm not sure you'll ever find anyone to give you any reason why Namath is in. Never made any sense to me or anyone else who has ever watched football. Bradshaw and Aikman were VERY mediocre quarterbacks, but both guys won multiple Super Bowls, so there was at least justification for inducting them. Namath must have paid someone off.

Alot of selective officiating in this game....Rice was held by Keisel, and on that TD to Wallace - #53 for Pitt was holding #90, actually sitting on him.

Great game! Congrats to Baltimore, they earned it going 92 yards. Usually that's the Steelers hell-pit, couldn't of set up better than that for Pittsburgh. Flaccid pulled it off. Great game, another instant classic.

Damn, nobody rips on Flaccid harder than me (and you?), but maybe he grew up tonight. I never woulda thought he had that last drive in him. And he did it even after Smith's and Boldin's HUGE drops.

Flacco pretty much shredded our D for the 2nd straight game. The ball was on the money tonight, even like you said, with the drops as well. He did his usual and James Harrison did his magic & so did Roethlisberger but giving up a 92 yard drive to end it then letting them complete like, 15 third downs all game is a recipe for what just happened. Solid game though, like I said, Flacco and Baltimore earned it.

I agree. Smith clearly pushed off to grab that TD. The refs were crappy on both sides in this one.

I'm not much of a Flacco fan either, but you're spot on. The reality is that he toyed with the Steelers pass coverage for most of the night and had guys dropping the ball all over the place, even though they were open and he was making good throws. Superb game to watch. Baltimore is now the class of the AFC (for this week). Congratulations to the Ravens.

Not looking good for the Bengals next week. They've amassed a very good record against junior varsity teams and haven't had to play Pittsburgh or Baltimore once yet. Steelers by 10!

That's funny, ironically, my heads pounding, my knee hurts & my ribs from drinking and playing ball over the weekend. NEVER did in a victory that next day  That was awesome dude! There's nothing like Baltimore/Pittsburgh games. Loved every second of it. There was absolute noway in HELL I thought Flacco was going to lead his team. I don't mind giving credit where credit's due in a loss. Before that drive I turned to my brother and said "If they go 92 yards in 2 minutes, then they deserve it." Well, Flacco and Baltimore earned it and round III is in the future. Going to be an interesting end to the season since the North is still a 3 team race (for now.)

I think the only really silver lining for Steelers fans is that even in a loss, the re-emergence of James Harrison was a sigh of relief. The dude is just beastly so when Woodley comes back, it's good to have both of those guys fresh and Harrison showed that our pass rush will be in great shape when both of them lineup on the outsides. Ben had time to throw but the offense still can't score touchdowns when needed. They were inside the redzone about 6 times and couldn't come away with points. Alarming.

How about when Harrison fuckin LEAPED around Ray Rice towards the end of the game? That musta been a scary sight in Flaccid's peripheral vision

Correction - he didn't leap AROUND Rice. Rice took the coward's way out and AVOIDED him....Rice is a pussy, and I wouldn't want him on my team. Ray made an actual concerted effort to get out of his way.....PUSSY.

I laughed my ass off because that's James Harrison. He's a complete WRECK for an offense to stop. I think what was even funnier was Baltimore dumping Gatorade on Harbaugh in mid-season with a whole second half of the schedule to go! Too funny.

I'm beginning to think NE's problem on defense is they don't have ANY guys like Suggs, Lewis, Harrison...etc on the team...They don't have ONE guy with an edge. I'm not saying NE should sign criminals, but this whole 'character' thing is all wrong. players must think championships just appear by osmosis in NE...Wilfork is a leader, but he's no James Harrison. The only player on that team that plays with a chip on his shoulder is Welker....and that won't cut it.

I thought for the most part, New England's defense answered the bell. Good defensive game from both sides and N.E's defense played well enough to win the game for the majority. The difference maker was obviously Manning's clutch (again.) That ball down the seam to their Tight End was a gorgeous catch and throw, Super Bowl XLII-like. No way the Pats can drop 3 in a row, can they?

Brady's still an elite QB - he's just not as good as he used to be. When he is at the top of his game...as he was last season. the team's many flaws can be overcome. If Brady is only "good" the Pats have ZERO chance. It's a good thing for them their schedule gets a lot easier after road games at the Jets and Jailbirds...I mean, Eagles...two of the next three weeks.

New England and Belichick have got to fix the defense. What has happened is he let that side of the ball slip away.Fix the defense because in the last four or five years that has been the issue.
