These are just certified sales. Actual sales are much higher - A&M doesn't certify these albums anymore since Styx isn;t on the label. Cornerstone has at least 3 million Paradise and GI have 4 million, Kilroy has 2 million. Crystal Ball and Equinox are clsoe to platinum I believe.

With all due respect to the reporting bodies - all of which are flawed in various ways - these numbers are far too low to represent Styx' true career sales. By any and all accounts from people who worked with the band in its golden years, the band sold between 15 and 20 million albums in its run from 1975-1981 alone.

An interesting side note is that any time you ask anyone on a higher up level at any of the labels Styx was on, to the very last man they claim not to have a clear picture of Styx' true overall sales. I sometimes think Styx may be one of the most screwed-over bands ever. I wouldn't be surprised if fully half of that band's overall sales have not been reported or paid out to them over time.

Maybe so! But, that still won't help from people saying who the heck is James Young. He'd still need to add the tag line "The Tall Blond Guy From Styx".

Mmmm... I smell a royalty lawsuit, JY better get on that post haste! 8)

He might win the right to be able to call himself James Young ....

Maybe so! But, that still won't help from people saying who the heck is James Young. He'd still need to add the tag line "The Tall Blond Guy From Styx WHO CAN'T SING AND IS A VERY MEDIOCRE GUITARIST"

Fixed it for ya...

Funny I bet he only became a mediocre guitarist from 1999 onwards eh :), about the same time Todd became a bad drummer, Tommy could no longer sing and Chuck lost the ability to play bass, I bet you even think Glen Burtnick was crap until he played some dates with Dennis ....

JY has always been mediocre. Never have liked his style. I've never complained once about Tommy's playing ability or singing ability. The guy still has it.

Go back to England you fool.

J.Y. is a fantastic guitarist. His voice gives the Styx harmonies that piercing and cutting sound that makes them unique.

JY's playing abilities are very good but nothing that special. It fits the material. But he doesn't stand out like guitarists in other bands have. Todd's an excellent drummer. Tommy's playing and singing ability are as good as they ever where. I liked and still do like Glenn's contributions to Styx and felt he was a good fit in place of Tommy's absence. My views of these people as musicians has not changed, but my feelings about them as to their attitudes and actions has. There's a difference between the two.
