General Intelligent Discussion & One Thread About That Buttknuckle

This is a sad day. Very sad. A sad day for me. A sad day for many of you as well. But, most importantly a sad day for Lula, Wyatt and their family.

I hope and pray Deano rests in peace. I have complete faith in the fact the good Lord forgives and has a great sense of humor. Heaven won't ever be quite the same!

Our thoughts and prayers go to his family in this most difficult time.

Deano...We Will Meet Again.

I'm at a loss for my weirdly worded ways here Folks.
Everything in me wishes this were a bad taste prank.

It may to too early to think of this...but is there any thought of a scholarship fund for Wyatt or some other Memorial?

I too was hoping this was an internet hoax.

So saddened to get this news from Dan, stared at the words on the phone in disbelief. Like others here I had the chance to meet and just have fun friendly times all of us together with Dean. I've never met a funnier person. And he was one of those people that one could always tell his heart was 100% genuine. I know his soul held hurt, but he had a great heart. I remember back in Vegas, about 4 years ago now I think, it made me smile so much to see how he cared for baby Wyatt and Lula. And my gosh he made us all laugh so, so much. My heart goes out to Lula and Wyatt, and hope for peace for all his family and friends.

Dean... may your soul rest in peace

RIP Deano. You really brought something to these boards. A bit off the wall at times, but loved by many. Loved your sense of humor.

I don’t know whether this world has a meaning that transcends it. But I know that I cannot know that meaning and that it is impossible for me just now to know it.

Surprising and sad.

I just had a random thought. Dean had a way of coming up with a special name for everyone. If you reminded him of someone, that became your name. The first time we met him, probably 5 years ago now, he decided I have "steveperry's hair" from one of his eras! Not sure which! So after that trip, I joined MR, and as a joke used it as my screen name. It kind of stuck! He liked knowing it was he that gave me that screen name I know. I thought if Andrew ever started the new board, I'd switch to Lynn, since so many know my name anyway. But I think I forever will have to be stuck with Steveperryhair! I would never have the heart to change it now!

This sucks. I lurk more than I post but have been following the adventures of Deano since the Tapegate era. I am in disbelief and send my condolences to Lula and Wyatt and the rest of his family. His posts always cracked me up. No one was more creative at it than him. One of the all time great forum posters and apparently (from those who knew him personally) a much different person in real life from the cyber self he portrayed. RIP man. :(

I have so many photos with Dean it's crazy. Some of them are laugh out loud hilarious and can be found elsewhere. Maybe some will show up here with Andrew's permission.

Instead of the crazy photos I am laughing my ass off at, I will share one where he was caught off guard with a little kid.

Image

He would hate that I posted that. (and that he got photobombed)

When you are ready for the crazy photos that Dean liked - just let me know.

For those of you that never met Dean in person, here is a video from my home back in 2006 when we had a ton of melodicrock.com members over my house for a party the night before a Journey show. It's loud and you can't here much more than yelling, but that was a party he really pulled off.

Me too. I'm just stunned by this awful news. Couldn't believe it when I saw the text! So true, Smelly. Was a gentle giant with a huge heart, always razzing each other from the second we met. My heart and prayers go out to Lu and Wyatt, Big hugz! Awe he just recently reminded me about a little Vancouver goalie helmet toy that he had me pick up from McD's here in Canada (wasn't available in US) for Wyatt. Sooooo very sad, far too young, but he's with his darling son Trevor now. :( :(

I'm speechless. I saw a post from someone on Facebook and I thought it was a bad joke...
It's so eerie to see a thread like this on MR. I was almost waiting for Dean to chime in and tell everybody to just fuck off...because he's alive and well. Unfortunately, it's not a prank and it saddens me to know that he passed away so young.

I've known Dean since the day I became an MR member and we had many crazy fights on and off the board. I think I matched his stubborness (and spelling LOL) and because of that we ultimately figured out that it benefits us to be allies instead of being enemies. :)

Last time we were in touch it was 2010 - he asked me to help him publish his adventures in a collection of short (crazy-funny) stories. He sent me a bunch that I edited and he was supposed to work on more...but he stopped. I bugged him to continue and I was harsh with him (as the editor/publicist I was supposed to be for him) but none of my efforts to motivate him write were successful. I gave up after a while, thinking that maybe he is going through some rough times. He finally got back and all he said was that he was in pain. I respected his wish to take a break and never heard from him again.
I believe that his book would have been a big seller and it would have been wonderful to have it especially now that he's gone. Fortunately, MR is quite a good archive where his humor will survive. :)

I'm sure he worked hard in his quest to better himself and for that, as well as for the many roaring laughs he was capable in producing, my hat goes off to him.
I regret that he left behind a beautiful family and my condolences are not enough to express how sorry I feel for all who survived him.

He's a valuable member of God's Comedy Club now. May he get paid with happiness and peace for the rest of eternity.

RIP Dean.

I'm in disbelief. I never met Dean personally, yet I feel like I've known him forever. I know he fought his demons. But from what I've heard from many of you here who had the pleasure to meet Dean personally, he had to have been a good guy in person. I hate that I'll never get the chance to meet him. It definitely gives me pause and makes me realize the arguing and fighting with people on a forum board is pointless. Behind those screen names are real people, with real problems, real hearts, real lives. Each and every one of those lives are precious.

To Lula and Wyatt. You are both in my prayers tonight.

Rest in peace Rockin'Deano. This forum will not be the same without you.

Sorry I never told you
All I wanted to say
Now it's too late to hold you
Cause you've flown away
So far away

Never had I imagined
Living without your smile
Feeling and knowing you hear me
It keeps me alive
Alive

[Chorus]
And I know you're shining down on me from heaven
Like so many friends we lost along the way
And I know eventually we'll be together
One sweet day

Deano I never showed you
Assumed you'd always be there
Took your presence for granted
But I always cared
And I miss the friendship we shared

[Chorus]

Although the sun will never shine the same
I'll always look to a brighter day

Lord I know when I lay me down to sleep
You will always listen as I pray

[Chorus: x2]

Sorry I never told you
Together
All I wanted to say

Fate is often cruel, and for Dean, the timing could not have been worse - apparently he was really getting himself back together, and becoming the person he knew he needed to be for his family. I am so, so very sorry for the loss to Lula and Wyatt right now. :(
