I have had my run in's with health problems. In late January, I tripped over a child's rocking horse, landed on my right side, and my right arm went out in a way it shouldn't go. So now I have a fractured shoulder. Then on Valentine's Day, I was admitted to the hospital with a very high white blood count.( It was up to 24,000) Spent three days there, hooked up to iv's and taking meds. They even shot me up with an anti-clotting med to make sure I didn't get any clots in my legs.

Thanks, Rick. I am ok. I do have to see an ortho doc next week. My main provider wants a specialist to look at my shoulder to make sure that there isn't any more damage.

With more than one clot, definitely most likely. Like someone mentioned earlier, it's a life changer, and yeah unfortunately if on an anticoagulant for long periods of time, maybe even life, then beer and alcohol are pretty much off limits.

Good Lord...another MR'er with a medical condition. That's it...I'm going for a physical tomorrow morning. Dan is a good dude. Tell him that I wish him well, to recover quickly, and get his ass back on these boards, contributing!

Great idea for yourself John and for everyone on these boards. Dan texted me the story of the incident leading to his hospitalization. It was exactly like the way my dad figured out he needed triple bypass 6 years ago. He was not feeling himself for about 3 months, especially when exercising, and finally, he felt TERRIBLE after taking a walk at lunch one day. That finally got him into the hospital (knowing he had a family history of heart disease and high cholesterol for years), and he was damn lucky: he was a ticking time-bomb.

Everybody should get a check-up because many people are not as lucky as Dan and my dad were; their bodies don't communicate with them until something drastic and potentially irreversible happens.
