Thanks, Suite! Really nice rendition. Dennis looks fantastic, too. :D I like what he is wearing here.

Part 1 is a really lovely version of "Show Me the Way."

The fact that your name is toph means,a calculus or a concretion found in the stomach of certain animals,
esp. ruminants,as in chewing the cud,as in cows standing around chewing all day long.
End result, a big steaming turd.
Speaks volumes.....

Stop bashing on my thread, take it to another one please! Unreal.

Geez, do you people always have to cut on someone's looks or performance? This goes for everyone !

I'm guilty here. I love Denny's music. But his stage performance is ridiculous.

How did STYX ever get so popular? Well they had great songs - many of them written by Denny. But they also had 2 rock musicians on stage and a solid rhythm section backing them up while Denny was trying to do ballet and Broadway.

Born for Adventure is a great rock song, one of the most rocking songs Denny has ever done. And I am glad he brought it out of the mothballs. But seriously Suite, you set yourself up for this one. That's got to be the silliest, dorkiest performance I have ever seen at a "rock show". You just have to wonder what the other musicians are thinking. "Holy Crap! I used to be in a STYX tribute band. Now I'm onstage with Dennis DeYoung. All my dreams have come true....wait...what's he doing....god this is so embarrasing....How will I ever face my friends?"

While Dennis' voice and music are brilliant, there is some truth to what you say here.

First things first:

Froy - EXCELLENT video quality. Very impressive. Kudos to you.

I'm not gonna knock anything about this performance for a few reasons:

1. The sound was amazing. Dennis still has serious pipes, and his voice is still clean and powerful. Not many rockers over 60 can say that.

2. They all looked to be having a good time, which, last I checked, was a big part of the appeal of STYX shows.

3. Dennis looks happy.

4. Kudos for dusting off a great deep album cut. I've been wishing STYX would do this one for years, and he did.

5. Dennis has *always* been cheesy on stage. Go back and watch Caught in the Act. The intense theatrics was his thing, and I don't see this as any different from anything he has done, even his the "heyday." He's a goofball, and has never pretended to be anything but a goofball. I don't see the big disappointment. I thought it was great.

On this one he has the one playing JY on acoustic guitar, which is wrong, the one playing Tommy should be on the acoustic surely ?
Or does the Tommy wannabe not play acoustic ?

On the original video for BFA he still sounds great but I agree you need to just listen and close your eyes and everything will be OK and he is not half as dorky as he is on Roboto. Like to watch him sing songs like Show Me The Way where it is dork free.

Thumbs up, Zan.

Yes, Dennis is the Dorkmeister onstage, but, having seen him live a few times, he will occasionally surprise you with a cool move. A couple of times I have looked around and thought, "Did he just do that?" Ok. Doesn't happen often.

My stage attire comment was made because Dennis can sometimes wear the most gawdawful stuff in performance. But this outfit was perfect, IMO. He can really be OTT sometimes there. I love the "Soundstage" orchestra show, but his outfit nearly ruins it for me. (A friend and I refer to that Donna Karan collarless tux look as "The Vicar of Wakefield") And don't get me started on the gondolier shirt and white socks he wore for the RTP video. (The white linen jacket was beautiful, but didn't fit him. Uck to the rest.) [end girly clothing rant /]

The "Tommy wannabe" can do acoustics, obviously you've never seen one of the acoustic concerts they had not too long ago :?

You guys are making fun of Dennis on stage? What about JY and his thin ties and smarmy smirks? Talk about a dork! I hate that guy.

Dennis is goofy on stage sometimes, but JY looks like a smug prick most of the time.

Not bashing here, but the last time Dennis had a cool move he stopped short with George's mother in his Ford Focus. A move he stole from Kramer who had previously stole that move from Frank Costanza.

Million to one shot that he comes up with a cool move on his own. The corkscrew pasta move he stole from Froy!

I like that Dennis isn't afraid to be a "dork" onstage. He doesn't feel compelled to live up to any particular image or stereotype. He's his own person. Dennis is a great guy.
