I love Miss America live - it's one of the most fun songs they perform. Not as crazy about it on the studio album, but I don't hate it either.

People dont like Shooz because it sounds NOTHING like Styx. Shitty song that belongs with a southern rock band vs. Styx

Awrite Tophguy.
Shooz sounds nothing like Styx,I agree.Crystal Ball sure wasn't anything Equinox was.
It took me about 20 years to appreciate Shooz, and slightly less to love the Crystal Ball album.
Babe and Roboto weren't exactly Styx either. But hey ,they were Dennis songs......

We are often reminded here that it was their only #1 song,
and that Dennis was the mastermind behind that.

There's a difference in talking about what an artist's\band's top commercially successful works and what is their best written\performed work. The two don't always go together.

DDY: Castle Walls, Queen Of Spades, Borrowed Time (2 of those are co-written, obviously)
Tommy: Cold War, Everything Is Cool (Live. Sounds like he's whining on the studio), Shooz
JY: Heavy Water (also live), Double Life, Half Penny Two Penny

Don't get me wrong.
I do not want Styx to sound like Shooz.
Shooz,Babe and Roboto are 3 un-Styx Styx,I think.

Couldn't agree more.
But I don't always get the feeling around here, that is the case.

LOL you people are funny.

"Styx" sounds like "Babe," "Mr. Roboto," "Love is the Ritual," "Come Sail Away," "Renegade," "Snowblind," "Shooz," "Jennifer," "Love in the Midnight," "Miss America," "Lonely People," "Show me the Way," "Kiss Your Ass Goodbye," "Crystal Ball," "Just get Through This Night," "A Day," "You better Ask," "First Time," "On My Way," and "Eddie."

That's the great thing ABOUT Styx: many sounds, many styles. Would you all prefer it if everything sounded exactly like "I'm Okay," or "Too Much Time on My Hands?"

C'mon.

Indubitably .
But I could very easily live without Baby Styx and Roboto Styx.
As a matter of fact.If those 2 songs did not exist,I think Styx would have been a whole different monster,
and much better for that.Mon.

Fair enough. We all have our preferences. But to say "it doesn't sound like Styx" is weird to me, since Styx has so many different sounds.

I guess I meant 'it doesn't sound like the Styx I cared for'.I was a little vague there.

Hmm, so it's okay for your hero to take them into territory that they'd not been in before (Babe, Fist Time -that typo's fer you Toph, and Roboto) but if Tommy uses a guitar slide and sings a kick ass vocal, that just doesn't fly? Um, okay.

I'll put Shooz up against any of Dennis' ballads. The song kicks ass.

Yeah, I just can't stand JYs vocals on the live/regeneration versions.
