how can you be out there trying to be a "rock star" and carry on with "the music of styx" and look like my grandpa doing it?

Because people are there to experience the music and the voice.

This is a dumb question honestly. Dennis is who he is. He colored his hair for years. Why should he deny who he is. Grandpa? I wish my Grandpa could sing half as well as Dennis. Or half as well as Tommy for that matter.

None of these guys would win awards in the looks department anymore. Good thing for us their voices haven't aged. Dennis and Tommy still sounds great! JY sounds like arse, but that isn't anything really new in terms of his live performance.

They can play and sing the songs people want to hear. I'm past caring about anything else in terms of vanity.

Well said.
Besides with white hair your hair shows the color of the lights better. So sometimes his haior is green, or blue, orange, red...... :D

I think he looks good for his age. Dennis's grey hair is better then looking like Jim Peterik.

He looks pretty fit for a guy of 65 who can sing much better than a lot of people half his age 8)

Which seems to be one of the things wrong with the music business today. It seems looks have become more important then the talent or lack thereof.

So many dinosaur rockers look SO bad, I think Dennis has held up well. He is slim and trim and seems healthy. The white hair is just what happens and I am glad he embraced it a long time ago, so he did not have to have that jolt a sudden appearance with white hair might bring.

I am thinking about McCartney. He probably can never not dye his hair now. It would be a shocker to see the real color.

I agree, K666, about Brian May. Wow. It was a surprise to see the gray hair after all those years of his dyeing it a darker color.

Bugsy
Change your hairdo. Change your name.
Congratulations! You're still the same.

thats my whole point.....seeing brian may like that recently made him look a million years old. i know that dennis is fit and trim and sounds fantastic.....but i just dont like seeing him so old......

my mom is 71 years old and still has blondish, brown hair done very tastefully instead of letting her hair go completley grey. it's a preference thing.

in reality the whole thread was simply started as a joke anyway....but i am being honest in saying that I wished he still dyed his hair.

The last time he did that ('96 reunion tour) the dye job just screamed fake. I can get past the fact that he has gotten into the start of his golden years. he seems pretty fit and energetic for his age.
