i thought the boys did great on TMS.....just good conversation and it was super cool to see Vinny Paul talking about being such a huge styx fan......

overall i thought they represented just fine and it was super cool to see eddie and the boys not try to drudge up any comments about dennis.

You can watch the episode here, as well as see a couple extra clips that weren't aired. One of the clips discusses a perennial hot button around here, namely, making music in the future:

Sometimes it makes no sense at all.

It really wasn't all that informative. I thought it was good that they didn't go down the road of Dennis bashing. That was a bit of a surprise. They should have plugged their new DVD more instead of getting a plug in for that silly coffee blend. Is about the music of coffee? This interesting part of this whole thing is that I have never heard any of the hosts of the show talk about Styx in terms of the type of music that surrounds the show before this episode.

There was a That 70's show episode where the guys( Eric, Kelso, Hyde) admitted to secretly liking Styx even though the girls who could admit they really liked Styx thought they really hated them. It was not cool to like Styx.

I am sure that has something to do with the members of the show never talking about Styx before. It is still not 100% cool to think Styx was any good.

Nice to see a band selling products and giving back.
Fair trade coffee and Styx are showing how it can be done.
Thank you Styx.

Dennis does Finesse so he can get some free samples.

Are you serious?? i have watched this show quite a bit. Judging from seeing their personalities, I don't think they are afraid to speak their minds. It's like you are inferring that they are "closet" Styx fans. Which I hardly think they are based on the bands they have talked about liking. Styx is no where near those types of acts. Even when they talk about bands they like, they have spoken negatively about them when those bands\artists ventured into Styx like territory. For example, the have poked fum of VH for Jump and the influence of keyboards on that album. Did you notice that when they were showing and plugging the GI\PO8 concert DVD they (hosts) didn't even realize that it was a concert doing both albums back to back? Usually, when they discuss a album or video with the guest(s) they comment on how they listened to it or watched and tell them how they liked it or didn't like it. None of that with this one. Honestly, i think Styx being booked for this show was more influenced by the network then Eddie or his co-hosts being Styx fans of any sort. Not that this is a negative thing it's just not the usual types of bands or artists they feature on this show.

I don't post on this forum much...but I hope I do not get slayed for this one....
When they discussed Come Sail Away...and they were discussing the power guitar part....and when Eddie talked to JY about his lulling them with the keyboards then boom, and TS said that was JY's parts........JY looked very comfortable taking the credit and just roilling with it....that type of shit irks me......I live this stuff, and have played the hits on stage with many artists who wrote the hits, and guys who were not even in the band when the hit was made, produced and created yet act like they did, and all inbetween.....but that was right there where I believe they should have mentioned DDY....really....DDY wrote the tune...most likely produced a great deal of it.....and those two prance around like they are guys behind it....WE are more comfortable just playing the hits....yes....you make $$$ for doing that....and will not make money selling 15,000 albums.....CD's sorry....rewrite history, act like you wrote it all (WHEN YOU DO NOT EVEN MENTION THAT THEY DID NOT WRITE IT DDY DID THEY IN MY MIND ARE TAKING CREDIT FOR THE CONCEPTION OF THE SONG)......act like you ARE Styx....Jesus Christ....I have't talked to DDY in a while....but I really don't know how he does it.....he stays completely classy and stays out of the fray...good on em.....

Hey moron it's a known fact that the chorus of CSA is from an MS Funk song Tommy wrote and the bridge section JY wrote.

One of the things that got me thinking was when they were talking about Renegade. JY said something like, "it wasn't a rocking song until I laid down some heavy guitar parts". Correct me if I am wrong but, I thought that someone maybe Dennis mentioned that when Tommy demoed this song for him at his home, he encouraged Tommy to rework the song into more of a rocker. Is it possible that this is more reinventing Styx history?

They aren't on the song writing credits because Styx songwriting credits were never properly managed hence their unusual publishing as a half assed way of remedying it. How could you post something like that without even knowing anything about it?

Ah yes.... One must give JY a break and let him plug all the bits and pieces he contributed to Tommy and Dennis' songs. After all, the songs he is credited for writing didn't fair so well compared to theirs.
