Bobby and Fergie doing 'Girl Goodbye'

Postby The_Noble_Cause » Wed Jun 20, 2012 1:45 am

Bobby on lead and Fergie helping out with choruses, along with the great Tommy Denander on guitar.
This has to be some kind of first. Very cool to see Bubba and Fergie. Maybe they should do a duets cd?

Interesting the song is tuned down a full step from the record.

I can see why Luke would be mad after watching this train wreck:

The guitar playing is really cool and tasteful. Everything else? Not so much... (not the least of which being Bobby's out-of-breath lead vocal).

Shit, Bobby's been out of breath since 1977.

Got to love the free edit style of wiki.

Kimball performed on the first four studio albums by Toto. He was released from the band in 1984 during the sessions for Isolation, because the band, who were all doing drugs, were having personal problems, and therefore asked Kimball to leave the band. This was truly a drug decision, due to the fact that it was immediately after the band was on top of the charts after the release of the Toto IV CD. They were on their way to becoming a Mega-Band, but decided to fire the lead singer, which was very confusing for their Record Label

A while back, Bobby did an orchestral cd covering all sorts of TOTO songs, including some Byron's stuff.
"I'll Be Over You" was one of the tunes he's covered. As always, he's hit or miss.
As part of the TOTO family, he can sing whatever.
Here's a nice version of "I Will Remember/I'll Be Over"

For pushing 60+, Bobby still has alot of power and good range. Most singers his age (Meat Loaf, Lou Gramm) have just completely and utterly lost it.

Thanks for sharing!

To be honest, I thought Bobby had trouble with the high notes of this song for years. At age 60+, it's probably better that he's tuned it down.

On repeat viewings, I can't get enough of Tommy Denander's guitar playing here. Some really cool innovations that really spice this song up live. I would love to hear Luke singing with this arrangement and trading licks with Tommy on this one.

Fergie sounds pretty good on Isolation.

Bobby is 65 now. He seems to be hit or miss with things. Depends what night you get him, I suppose.

Yep - definitely stronger than when I saw him perform with them in Minneapolis in 2007 (though that was a once-in-a-lifetime) experience

Fergie doing Endless, Isolation, and Carmen. Obviously tuned down, but Fergie is in good voice.
