Styx, REO, Ted Micro Review

Postby lowdbrent » Sat Jun 23, 2012 4:43 pm

Last night I saw Ted Nugent, Styx and REO in KC, MO, and all three were excellent. I have some video clips headed for youtube.

As a musician and engineer, I am seldom impressed and often disappointed by my fav band's performances. Heck, we should not be aging. We are all still in our 20s...in my head. Musically, all three were very tight.

Tommy's vocals were just stellar. All of the vocals were great, but Tommy just impressed me. JY is an under-rated guitarist. The drummer reminds me a bit of Dean Castronovo.
Styx was tight, had a good stage show, pretty cool video show, etc.

REO had a guitar failure and covered for it well. Dave plays some of the chords differently, giving some of the old songs a fresh vibe. He is a great player.

Ted...what can you say about him? TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONE! GROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE! Awesome.

Check them all out!

Thanks for the review. Sucks that dave had a bad night. I guess that happens every now and then.
While i'm not THAT much of a fan of his he does his job well and is a pro, given all the crap he had to go
through in the early days.

Yes he is! I caught the show last night in Chicago and let me say that Uncle Ted & Co. blew away both REO and Styx with no problem with one unreal high energy set. REO was the big dissapointment of the night, they sounded horrible worse performance I have ever seen by them.
