This is one of the things that happens when you give the boot to a band member that wrote a big chunk of material for the band and you want to avoid playing that stuff.

Yeah, bring Denny back. They would play 12 shows, take a year off so Denny could do Broadway, take another year off for Denny's illness, take another year off because Denny misses his wife, take another year off....

Are you that thick-skulled? Dennis has toured playing Styx music every year since 2001ish. 40-50 dates a year generally

At least with Dennis they might put out a new and original album. Not the re-recorded shit they put out recently.

No need to re hash that old boring argument.

It's not an argument at all. They are not playing quite a bit of the catalog that they used to when Dennis was in the band. It's just the way things are. I am not advocating that they bring Dennis back or change what they are doing. It is what it is. Period.

Welcome to the dark side my friend.

They are not playing those songs by their choice. They do a ton of Dennis' stuff and the only ones who whine about it are in this forum. The live audiences for the most part could care less. Present day Styx does not wish to be known for "Babe" and "Roboto". Why is that such an issue for some? Maybe some of the fans go home crying cuz they didn't hear those two songs, but the band goes home knowing they didn't have to play those tunes and they're happy about it. They didn't even play Roboto during the reunion shows or the Grand Illusion 20th tour. Gotta wonder how those discussions went...
If you look at the RTP live sets, there's not MUCH that present Styx doesn't play. "Babe". Okay, that's a pretty personal song for Dennis. "Best of Times". Not really sure why Styx doesn't play it, but they've played a lot of other stuff that wasn't played when they reunited. If Styx doesn't wanna play the tunes they shouldn't. If Dennis wants to play those songs (as well he should, he wrote them and he's the voice for them) then that's fine. Sometimes in a music career, you do songs that you think are a good idea, but in retrospect aren't- FOR YOU. Dennis still plays Roboto and Babe cuz he likes them and he knows people like them. Cool. I highly doubt you'll ever see him singing "The Grove of Eglantine". Though he wrote it, he hates it, but some folks like it. Styx doesn't play those songs because none of those members apparently liked those tunes and they definitely didn't write them. They might've had hits and made money off of them, but now they've decided it's not who they want to be. Shaw wouldn't go out and play "This is not a Test" either. He hates it and he wrote it.
Not really sure why this is still being tossed out all these years later. If you like Dennis, go see him. If you like Styx, go see them. What's the big deal?

100 Years From Now was quite successful and I still hear "I Believe In You" at the supermarket. I bet it has made him some money.
