Happy Week 2 folks. I had a surprisingly nice start to my Sunday. I've been thinking I chose the Bears for Thursday night. I just logged in to make my week 2 picks and was surprised to see that I changed my pick to the Packers at some point the other night. Hadn't looked since. Anyway, what a nice surprise for me. The Browns will ruin my good day in short order. Enjoy.

Kansas City Chiefs(0-1) AT Buffalo Bills(0-1): One of several pick 'em games for me this week. I don't know enough about either team. I like Jamaal Charles, Dwayne Bowe, and the legend Romeo Crennel to lead the Chiefs to a victory against a Bills team that blew its load on signing Mario Williams.

Cleveland Browns(0-1) at Cincinnati Bengals(0-1): No Haden, No Phil Taylor, plenty of Weeden and our awful WR corps. The end result: Andy Dalton, AJ Green, and BJGEllis are gonna tear us to shreds and we won't put up points. The only saving grace for us here is that I believe Shurmur, Holmgren, and probably Heckert are on their last legs. As soon as Haslam's ownership is approved, he is cleaning house, and rightly so IMO. I don't believe Cinci is anywhere near as bad as they showed last Monday (and for that matter, I don't believe the Ravens are anywhere near as good as they showed either. Don't forget last season's start against Pitt).

Minnesota Vikings(1-0) at Indianapolis Colts(0-1): Another pick 'em game for me. Look for Jared Allen to rattle Andrew Luck a bit and look for AP to get his against a very unproven Colts defense. Vikings in a close one.

Oakland Raiders(0-1) at Miami Dolphins(0-1): Yet another pick 'em game. Look for the whiney bitch Carson Palmer to will his shitty team to victory because simply put, when Reggie Bush is your best offensive player, you've got some problems. Dolpinhs will take some hard knocks this game.

Arizona Cardinals(1-0) at New England Patriots(1-0): John Skelton/Kevin Kolb (is Skelton recovered yet) vs Tom Brady. At Gillette. Yeah.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers(1-0)at New York Giants(0-1): My heart tells me to pick the Bucs in an upset. My head has me picking the Giants. So I'll use my head.

Baltimore Ravens(1-0) at Philadelphia Eagles(1-0): The Ravens have a history of following up great performances with a shitty one. The Ravens are old and coming off a Monday night game (i.e., a shorter break). The Eagles can't be anywhere near as bad and uninspiring on offense as they showed against us. And their solid corners will look to bring Flaccid back to earth. Toss in that this is at Philly, and I give the edge to Philly.

New Orleans Saints(0-1) at Carolina Panthers(0-1): Cam Newton will silence any talk of a sophomore slump with a RG3-esque performance at home against a terrible Saints defense. And I couldn't wish it upon a scummier organization. Fuck you Drew Brees.

Houston Texans(1-0) at Jacksonville Jaguars(0-1): I absolutely love the Texans from top to bottom, and Jacksonville is putrid.

Washington Redskins(1-0) at St. Louis Rams(0-1): RG3 seems like a great guy, and I wish the best for him in his career. He'll probably be another one the Browns let get away (via Holmgren's botched attempt at playing poker with the Rams). That said, I'm not on the hype train yet. He played against a horrible Saints defense that was horrible before all the organizational turmoil that befell the team this year, and you can only think they will be even worse this year. The Rams, for their part, showed some solid defensive moxie against a very talented Lions offense, and Jeff Fisher is a very good coach. Perhaps even Bradford will prove he's not a stiff. Given the Rams' homefield advantage here, I like them in a squeaker.

Dallas Cowboys(1-0) at Seattle Seahawks(0-1): Very tempting to pick Seattle here because of the homefield, but I'll go with Dallas. Just seems safer.

New York Jets(1-0) at Pittsburgh Steelers(0-1): The more I think about last week's game vs Peyton and the more I think back to the awful teams the Steelers played last season to go 12-4, the more I think that they might be in for a rough year this year. But I'm sure if I picked against them, they'd fuck my bottom line. So I'm picking them.

Tennessee Titans(0-1) at San Diego Chargers(1-0): The annual Norv Turner Shoepuking Spectacle will be on full display.

Detroit Lions(1-0) at San Francisco 49ers(1-0): About the only thing not to love about SF as a team is Alex Smith. And he didn't even look nearly as bad as I thought he was. But then again, that WAS Green Bay he picked apart.

Denver Broncos(1-0) at Atlanta Falcons(1-0): Never bet against Peyton unless it's the playoffs, especially not against a Falcons team that has proven that it will beat the teams it's supposed to and lose to the ones it's not supposed to beat.

Week 2 is my favorite week of the NFL season, because EVERYONE overreacts after one week of games. San Francisco is the best team in the NFL, and Baltimore is the class of the AFC. Oh, and don't forget about the vaunted Jets offensive assault. By the middle of the season, none of these three statements will be true!

Kansas City Chiefs(0-1) AT Buffalo Bills(0-1): Two middle of the road teams, who will finish at 8-8 (at best). Buffalo has the home field, so they should have that standard 3 point cushion. That said, I like the Chiefs by 4.

Cleveland Browns(0-1) at Cincinnati Bengals(0-1): The Bengals are not as good as they looked for much of last year, but the Girl Scouts are every bit as bad. They're still yearning for the days of Bernie Kosar and Cleveland. Bengals by 14.

Minnesota Vikings(1-0) at Indianapolis Colts(0-1): Another game between middle of the road teams. The Colts have the home field, but the Vikings have Adrian Peterson (who appears to be healthy). Vikings by 3.

Oakland Raiders(0-1) at Miami Dolphins(0-1): Carson Palmer and the Raiders suck, but the Dolphins suck more. Raiders by 17.

Arizona Cardinals(1-0) at New England Patriots(1-0): Oddly enough, the Patriots and Cardinals have the two best records in the NFL over their past 10 games (Patriots are 10-1 and Cardinals are 8-2). The Cardinals have a VERY good defense and Larry Fitzgerald. That said, their QB and offensive line is putrid! Look for Chandler Jones to be in Arizona's backfield all day. Patriots by 21.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers(1-0)at New York Giants(0-1): The Giants starting off 0-2 wouldn't stun me, because they always find a way to suck early in the season. I suspect Tampa will keep this game interesting. Giants in a close one by 3.

Baltimore Ravens(1-0) at Philadelphia Eagles(1-0): Interesting matchup. The Ravens looked like an all-world team last week, and the Eagles couldn't get out of their own way. I've never been a fan of Vick (one of the most overrated players, EVER, in the history of the NFL) and can't stand Flacco's smug, douchebag, attitude. If these teams could tie 0-0, I'd be happy. That said, someone has to win, and I give a slight edge to the Philly. Eagles by 4.

New Orleans Saints(0-1) at Carolina Panthers(0-1): The Panthers have "changed" their logo (not really), but not much else has changed in Hickville, U.S.A. The Saints were my "lock of the week" to win last week, and I'm still stunned by the egg they laid. Look for the Saints to bounce back against an average Panthers team. Saints by 10.

Houston Texans(1-0) at Jacksonville Jaguars(0-1): Another week for Texan fans to hold their breath, as it's only a matter of time before Schaub, Foster, or Johnson get carted off the field (and I suspect that it will happen to all three before the end of the year). Jacksonville is flat out bad. Texans by three TD's.

Washington Redskins(1-0) at St. Louis Rams(0-1): Let the RGIII Era begin. The guy definitely can throw the ball in addition to his running skills. Redskins by 4.

Dallas Cowboys(1-0) at Seattle Seahawks(0-1): The Cowgirls are back. Right. Get back to me when they win a game that actually matters. Cowgirls by a TD.

New York Jets(1-0) at Pittsburgh Steelers(0-1): The whiney Steelers fans are out in full effect about how injured their poor team is. Blah, blah, blah. Shut your fucking pieholes, and play football, bitches! Based on how the Jets looked last week and how the Steelers looked, the Jets should win this one going away. Not so fast. Steelers by 10.

Tennessee Titans(0-1) at San Diego Chargers(1-0): Every season, the Chargers are "The Team", so why should this season be any different? The Titans have Chris Johnson who has been FUCKING AWFUL for more than a full season. Along with that, they have a rookie QB. Chargers by 10.

Detroit Lions(1-0) at San Francisco 49ers(1-0): Offense against defense. Always an interesting matchup in the NFL. I just don't think the Lions can score enough points against San Francisco's VERY stout defense. Niners by 7.

Denver Broncos(1-0) at Atlanta Falcons(1-0): In a week of AWFUL matchups, this is easily the "Game of the Week". This game will be highly entertaining to watch and a close one. Peyton looked like his old self last week, and Matt Ryan looked like the next MVP. I said coming into this season that if Peyton was healthy, he would be a very good QB. Not as good, because he'll be forced to play in weather for the first time in his career. But he is still better than most QB's in the NFL. I've never been sold on the Falcons and am still not. Broncos by 7.

I certainly didn't see it. That said, Arizona is now 9-2 in their last 11 games. Their defense is VERY good. I still think their offense sucks. It's the NFL. Shit happens. I saw the Patriots starting off 2-0 and losing to Baltimore in week 3. Not so sure about that next week, now.

They do have a very good defense, Brady still put them in a position to win as usual. That kicker doesn't miss much.

Middle of the season? Try week 3.

Man, I would pay ANYTHING to see S2M's take on the replacement refs. Figures, the refs actually absolutley SUCK this year and he's nowhere to be found. If anybody watched the Steelers game, I witnessed the worst PI call in all of my time watching football. Holmes caught a pass over the middle, not even touched, and got a nice, CLEAN lichen from Ryan Clark. As textbook as it comes. Even though Ike Taylor was 5 yards behind the play and with Holmes not even touched, they called PI on Taylor anyway. Not only that, but they ruled it a catch when he obviously dropped the football.

Heinz Field blew their gasket. We boo'd for a good 10 minutes. A blast, though. Nothing better than being in the atmosphere when your team wins.

I did watch the game and couldn't agree with you more. It was an AWFUL PI call and the officials should be ashamed of themselves. Of course, on the very next play, Clark CLEARLY interfered with the play (textbook pass interference) and the officals didn't make the call on that play, so it ultimately was a wash.

This whole dogshit replacement referee's are a wash. Antonio Brown had his arm clearly hooked along the sidelines as well with no call with the ref standing right there. IMO, those are automatic calls that should be flagged every time, especially when an arm gets hooked on a go-route. These refs are starting to warm up in making calls that could really hurt a football team. They aren't making the calls that are obvious and making that calls that are downright WRONG. I can just imagine when the stakes get higher.

First page, I said this:
Seattle is going to give you fits. I think San Francisco wins atleast 2-4 less than they did last season. I like the Seahawks as a dark-hoarse favorite in the WEST. Actually, the NFC WEST may make a huge turnaround and be a really competitive division next season. San Francisco's dominance last season had to of awoken that division as far as competitive nature.

Can't play Pittsburgh short handed at home every week , Denver. When did Tebow change his number to 18? Lots of reality checks in week 2 because it's just that...week 2.

If I fail to remain competitive in the straight-up pool, it's because I've gone a big 0-fer on the non-Sunday games through 2 weeks. :(

After seeing the performances of some of these teams in Week 2 (Cardinals upset, Bills win, Manning's turnover spree, another Cowboys fail against lesser competition, Cutler's meltdown & improved Packers' D, etc,) it seems like sure-win and sure-lose picks aren't so guaranteed anymore. I'm gonna have to rethink my predictions for Week 3.

Yeah the officiating has been horrible across the board. I mean, I gues if one doesn't mind 3 minute lag times to wait while the refs huddle up and discuss ever single penalty then I suppose they're doing a great job!
